Re: canker sores that wont go away, getting worried
Canker sores may hurt for 7 to 10 days. Minor canker sores heal completely in 1 to 3 weeks, but major canker sores can take up to 6 weeks to heal. Some people get another canker sore after the first sore has healed. Most canker sores heal without a scar.

Lysine. I suffered terribly with them because i was deficient in vitamins and my ph was too acidic. Lysine really helped me, but i also agree with cookie eater...make sure you're not deali g with herpes.

Re: canker sores that wont go away, getting worried
Nutritional deficiencies also play a role in predisposing a person to canker sores. One study of 330 people with canker sores found that over half of them were deficient in iron, folate, or vitamin BI2, or some combination of these nutrients. When their diets were supplemented, almost all of them found that their canker sores disappeared. We’ve also found that a Zinc deficiency can cause canker sores. If you have recurring canker sores, you should be sure that you’re taking adequate amounts of iron, folate, vitamin B, and zinc.

Zinc: 50 mg. daily. (If you are dissolving zinc tablets directly on canker sores, don’t take this extra supplement.)
Vitamin C with bioflavonoids: 1,000 mg. on a regular basis. At the first sensation of a canker sore, take 1,000 mg. three times a day for the first three days.
B12: 1,000 mcg. Under the tongue (it’s best if absorbed this way) once a day.
Iron: 60 mg. daily (but only if you’ve had a blood test that indicates that you are iron deficient).
Folic acid: 800 mcg. daily.
Vitamin E: 400 I.U. daily.

1/2 teaspoon to one full teaspoon (depending on weight) of baking soda mixed with a small amount of pure maple syrup in about six ounces of water. Make sure to fully dissolve the soda (sodium bicarbonate).

Use the first sip as a thorough mouthwash, and then drink the rest down. Do this once a day until the sores disappear (which shouldn't take more than a few days).

Note: make sure the person isn't on any drugs that might interact with the soda.

Persistent nail biter here, tends to lead to canker sores occasionally. The best vitamin c application I know of is to blend an entire lemon, strain the pulp add some honey and some sea salt. Adding a hot pepper sauce/spice will sting but ultimately help numb the pain and trigger a faster response. Tastes rather odd but it yields a serious blast of vitamin c and the salt and spice will help trigger the healing.

Try Lysine supplements.

And consider cutting out popcorn and processed peanut butter. Natural almond butter is ok.

At least, that is what worked for me.

You did not say exactly where this was - on the body. I will assume lip? If so and its external you may want to seek evaluation by dermatology. If you have had a lot of sun exposure to your face - to rule out things worse than canker sores. If internal on the mouth - Dentists can spot things better than general practitioners. If somewhere else, well - see a specialist.

The bottom line is you need to be evaluated by a specialist.

Could it maybe be hand, foot and mouth disease?

That swept through the elementary school recently and there are sores in the throat and nose and, oddly, on the ears sometimes (???) ... and they seem to last a long time.

As scary as it looks when you kid has sores all in their nose and on their ears ... evidently it is a normal, mild childhood thing.

It persists for a while.

Vitamin B deficiency

Take supplements and if that doesn't work get checked for pernicious anemia (inability to absorb B vit from food - must be treated with B shots)

I hope she feels better, she may want to see if a Dentist will evaluate since they are inside the mouth.

I do not want to freak you out - but you may want to take a look at this, Behcets disease - its sounds as if this is more of a "mouth ulcer" - this will probably NOT be the case for your friend but I do want you to be aware. Best of Luck to you both in finding solutions and relief.

it's your dry skin cuz of dry winter air.

those ultra sonic humidifiers are pretty good. worth the $40.

I took one apart and realized these things use the same principle as the 'star in a jar' technology. the tech that supposedly can produce tabletop nuclear fusion.

after seeing how these things can pit and melt steel with one microamp I believe now more than ever that table top fusion with this tech is for real. They are definitely suppressing this, even if fusion wasn't real they could definitely build an ultrasonic generator to create steam with this, which is exactly what the ultra sonic humidifiers do.

you can always just boil some water I guess but the ultasonic humidifiers use such a tiny, tiny amount of power.

Canker Sores can be a result of an immune deficiency. Has the person been sick with a flu or cold lately? Check to see if any glands are swollen in the throat area. This is also typical of a possible immune system problem or attack on the immune system. It can be a sign of recent sickness. Most typically it is nothing more than a lingering cold or flu.

Eat properly, get plenty of rest, and make sure you take any medicine prescribed. Drink plenty of natural juices - non-acidic of course.

Canker sores can take a very long time to heal - sometimes many weeks. Don't mess with them as they can become more irritated.
