Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC is among U.S. and Canadian railroads that stand to benefit from the Obama administration’s decision to reject TransCanada Corp.’s Keystone XL oil pipeline permit.
With modest expansion, railroads can handle all new oil produced in western Canada through 2030, according to an analysis of the Keystone proposal by the U.S. State Department.

Until we get off oil, the hippies can't have their cake and eat it. So what's it going to be... Do we keep shipping it by rail or will you give us a pipeline?

The accidents sure are convenient seeing they are trying to ram through a new pipepline. That being said from my understanding pipelines spill more but less often, while trains spill less but more often. From a terrorist perspective though pipelines are far more vulnerable.
