Judge To Jail Mother Unless She Signs Consent For Son’s Circumcision

I went into this with a certain mindset until I checked out the information at hand.

The child has something called phimosis which means his foreskin doesn't retract properly

However, there are non-surgical treatments for this condition

And we're talking a 4 year old, not an infant.

There are even surgical treatments that do not require circumcision.

"Well, it might sound that way, but the judge said clearly, “I will allow her to avoid incarceration or get out of jail if she signs the consent to the procedure.”

An emergency motion was filed to vacate the order as unconstitutional, but a second circuit judge, Moses Baker Jr., denied that motion, saying that this wasn’t a “[matter] of life and death or [an instance] of irreparable harm.”"

"Phimosis ["muzzle"]), is a condition of the penis where the foreskin cannot be fully retracted over the glans penis. The term may also refer to clitoral phimosis in women, whereby the clitoral hood cannot be retracted, limiting exposure of the glans clitoridis.[3]

At birth, the foreskin is fused to the glans and is not retractable. Huntley et al. state that "non-retractability can be considered normal for males up to and including adolescence."[4]"
