In light of recent drama with Russia and Putins disappearing act, I have a question for the preppers.

are you assuming that most people are going to bug out and not bug in ?

im the reason theres an ammo shortage. and im always ready to dig in and bivvy down for a long night.

That's what I mean though. When do you say GAME ON! I had a lot of regret for the exposure that was looming over me all weekend for not being ready. It kept me up all weekend, got in my head. I felt like I was letting my family down.

shit was tense this weekend, and im not sure that tension has subsided. there is no immediate infrastructure failure, there's was no immediate threat of ele on the horizon. i think the part about being prepared even to a nominal and reasonable level like you would for a hurricane, is that you don't react until the hurricane is on you, or passed if your going to bug in.

if you are going to bug out... i wouldnt bring the tomatoes in until at least you have some indication of frost. or even stormy weather. all we had this weekend was dark dark clouds...

i don't go crazy being uber prepared... i have redundant power/water/air, i can work a greenhouse like nobodies business, im still a good shot at 300yds with iron, and i keep a reasonable amount of backup MRE's

I commend you and the like minded. I don't ever want to feel like that again. I guess I had an eye opener moment. Ive always wrestled with the idea. Logic says get ready and I think its time. Thanks for the light, and thanks for the time to talk.

i personally felt better after i started having a costco sized case of water and a reasonable amount of dry goods like a 50 lb bag of rice and beans and noodles and canned food. and a basic first aid kit. Voila. your prepared.

having lived in a place where hurricanes were common, i always felt better with 3 days to a weeks worth of rations for me and the family.

i still enjoy 4x4 and hiking so of course i used that as an opportunity (to persuade the better half) to upgrade myrig with better suspension, snorkel, underarmor, winch, jerry cans, roof top tent, runflat tires, and rediculous mickey thompson mudders of obscene size.

if you are not always "ready to roll" then you are not a prepper
