Plus there might be a deeper reason for moms to worry about this without them being racist at all. I worked with a black woman that had a daughter that married a white man. She adored her son-in-law but was afraid racists from both sides would harm the couple in some way. She worried every time they travelled, went to dinner, etc. She also worried about how her future grandchildren would be treated by both whites & blacks.
