The Spike Lee's HBO Katrina Documentary Thread
Thank you Spike Lee for permanently recording the horror show that was and still is Hurricane Katrina.

The storm was terrible but the callous disregard for the human lives and property of the American citizens in New Orleans demonstrated by all levels of government, developers, and insurance companies set new lows for this country.

As one of the people in the documentary said there will be a separate circle in Hell for those responsible who could have made a difference before and after this disaster occured.

We will not forget.

Long live New Orleans!

I didn't see it but didn't need to. It was the most abominable horror I had ever witnessed in this country. Appalling. I'll never forget it.

haven't seen it yet, but I saw enough last year. I grew up in FL and hunkered down for many a storm. That was pure tragedy.

Re: The Spike Lee's HBO Katrina Documentary Thread
Nothing groundbreaking. Really disappointed.
Exploited.. Choreographed. One sided.

AND
Who WASN'T selling a book or CD in this flick?

Did we really need DUG BRINKlee's take AGAIN? Was Vanity Fair and the whole MSM circuit NOT ENOUGH for this revisionist shill?

REV AL? HARRY BELAFONTE?? WHY??

Was Garland Robinette crying for all the years he spent shilling for Freeport? Or for the calls he WON'T take from real people with real questions about real changes that might involve a few folks taking responsibility for what they
COULD HAVE DONE with the media and all of their fucking nonprofit orgs and fundraisers...

everyone raising AWARENESS and no one
lifting a fucking finger

That's what is wrong and has been wrong ..

They are all WAITING for someone to do something. If all of the people in this flick got together and picked up some debris, the city would be cleaner.

ps
How bout the official who went by the office at the refinery.. tells you all you need to know about st. bernard and plaquemines parish.. the officials are at the refineries all the time.. the land leasees are the only ones that matter in the low lying parishes.. the big bucks.. the big canals the big crimes against the entire coastline which should, left to its own,
be LARGER than it was a long time ago. .

Re: The Spike Lee's HBO Katrina Documentary Thread
I thought it was a good documentary. Just saw part 2 tonight, missed part one, will catch as many parts as I can.

Lots of FEMA bashing, which I always enjoy. So many people seem to think that FEMA has something to do with providing assistance to people caught in disasters, which is incorrect. Of course, gulf coast residents now know better. FEMA only "manages" emergencies for the government.

IMO judging from how they handled New Orleans I think their mission was more along the lines of "maximizing casualties".

Anywho, many people in the documantary made it clear that they hold the US Gov responsible. Glad to see that presented in the film. This documentary certainly blows away Oliver Stone's WTC piece o' shite.
