Does it have to that extreme? It's a *process* - it doesn't happen overnight. Exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit is vital, yes - a major goal. . .but not everyone is there yet. Faith to faith glory to glory, etc. It's OK to not be perfect, but it's important that we recognize we're to be in motion, towards Christlikeness. If we're following Him, led by the Spirit, etc. we're going to be making progress. Folks like OP have been given the task of providing diagnoses, and whether they respect us or believe in Jesus or whatever doesn't invalidate their input.

Part of our problem is we're so focused on whether or not the label "Christian" fits us, but overlook the fact that He never said "be ye Christian". If we can throw out the whole pompous label nonsense and learn to aim for becoming functional, we can bypass a lot of irrelevant debris and maybe people could stand to be around us for more than 5 seconds.

Fair enough, but when we can learn to apply that same measure of grace to lost people whom scripture plainly says are blind, defective and captive, we'll really be getting somewhere. When we as the Body of Christ get our stuff together, threads like this will cease to exist. They don't hate us because we're holy; they hate us because we're incongruent.
