Just hours after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced he had formed a government Wednesday night, top Likud officials were talking about the possibility of expanding the government – by bringing in Zionist Union, or at least some of its MKs.

Netanyahu is set to swear in his government in the coming days, but once it is established, he will immediately make an offer to Labor head Yitzhak Herzog, sources say. According to those sources, Netanyahu is prepared to bring Herzog in on a rotation basis, giving up the top office in the last 18 or 12 months of his term.

MK Kara: 'Make Me Minister or I'll Shun Coalition'

MK Ayoub Kara (Likud) is threatening not to show up for the swearing-in of the new government in the Knesset next Wednesday, if he is not appointed minister.

Kara, a Druze, told Maariv Online that unless appointed to be a minister, he will visit the heads of the Druze sect at Jethro's Tomb in northern Israel on Wednesday, instead of going to the Knesset.

Kara's threats are a sampling of the blackmail power that coalition MKs will now have against the government, as long as the coalition's Knesset majority is a razor-thin 61 MKs.
