Yeah, but you need pickling vinegar for it to work. Also a dash of dawn will break the surface tension of the vinegar....possibly also drowning bugs

get a goat or two

buy a roll of 6 mil black tarp. Leave it on for about a month in each location. That should cook everything including weed seeds. So get it big enough so by summer every part has been under the tarp.

Or get a goat.

Vinegar and dawn dish soap and salt will kill fugging anything forgot the mixture ratio but its cheap and effective and no hard chemicals.

well i know some of the environmental shills are going to hate but here's how. And BTW killing the weeds helps the environment NET because you have to mow less often, Bermuda grows slower than weeds.

STEP 1: get a decent 4gal backpack sprayer: [link to www.amazon.com]

STEP 2: Use 2-4-D NOT roundup to kill the weeds, it will not hurt the grass. also mix into the sprayer the Prodiamine 65 as pre-emergent which will keep new weed seeds from growing for rest of season. Mix both into backpack sprayer in appropriate amounts.

STEP 3: apply a slow release fertilizer a mix of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K).

STEP 4: Mow every 10 days or so. an do NOT bag clippings

So I have a small house. I live in a high desert in Southern Colorado. Anyway, this year it seems my backyard and to a smaller degree my front yard decided to go gangbusters with weeds. My front yard is xeriscaped and my backyard used to be a large dog run. It is literally dirt.

I want to kill the ground. I don't want to mess with weeds all summer if I can prevent it. I have grasses, dandelions, goatheads, and other irritating junk I can't identify.

I am not interested in planting a lawn or garden. I am likely to move in the next 1-1.5 years. I do have close neighbors, so I have to be careful about how I apply whatever it is I need to apply. Also, I live in town so I can't buy into a scorched earth policy.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a yard full of food, learn to cook the yard growth. No joke a lot of wild growth are eatables, and tastes good, you do not have to plant the food it free of labor. Get onions, bacon and get them dandelions greens.

Spray the entire yard with roundup, then you will not have to mow the grass for an entire year.
