I once showed up on time at a party in Russia and the hostess wasn't even home yet. The pocket thing and the loud nose blowing are just good manners everywhere. The left hand thing is key to remember, you really don't want to touch theirs either. |

In fact, many things considered innocuous or even polite where you’re from might raise (or sternly lower) eyebrows in other parts of the world. With that in mind, here are 11 behaviors that are widely viewed as acceptable in the United States but considered rude in other corners of the globe. Quoting: Instigator TIPPING WHISTLING OPEN-MOUTH LAUGHING SHOWING UP ON TIME GOING SANS-MASK WHILE SICK OPENING A GIFT IN THE PRESENCE OF THE GIVER DOING PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING LEFT-HANDED BLOWING YOUR NOSE IN PUBLIC PUTTING YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKET WHILE SPEAKING [link to www.msn.com] Being loud should be added to the list. This all nonsense. Except for being loud, but there are people like that everywhere. Blowing your nose?? Should you let mucus stream down til it is on your pants? Get real. |

Some of those are valid; others aren't. And some are ok in certain places, but not ok other places. I've traveled a lot. I always tip. And it's always appreciated. Interesting list, though. I can understand how some of those things would be offensive/rude to some people. Just follow the old adage: When in Rome... |

Kneel Schlongstrong User ID: 11589018 United States 04/03/2015 04:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some Americans lack nuance. Not saying that's bad or good. But some definitely lack nuance. As a matter of fact, some Americans' lack of nuance is refreshing to a lot of people. In an extreme example, picture Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase in the "Vacation" movies...especially "European Vacation" lol). Yeah, he can be offensive to some, and loud, etc., but it's an innocent, naive enthusiasm. In other words, he's being himself and his actions aren't contrived. Can be very refreshing. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68788290 Yes, and let's blame Italians for the Romans invading most of the known world at one time. Or Scandinavians for Viking raids. Or the Huns and Mongols and Arabs for invading Europe. See how that works? |

I am sure there are specific Americanisms that could be used, nope instead they make a stupid article like this.. The world is mad.. |
