The temblors struck northwest of Granada Hills within the space of 10 minutes, according to the agency's preliminary earthquake reports. The 3.1-magnitude earthquake, reported at 7:54 a.m., could be felt as far away as Carson. The LA Fire Department found no significant damage or injuries in a 470-square mile survey following the earthquake. Two smaller earthquakes preceded the largest temblor: a 2.1-magnitude shaker at 7:46 a.m. and a 2.8-magnitude earthquake (initially reported as a 2.7-magnitude) at 7:52 a.m., both in the same area, according to the USGS.
