i blame the banks for stuff like this. they are they ones who agree to hold the money, they are responsible for it.

Stop panicking and call the bank asap! Make them stop all the charges and have them go over anything that does not seem like you bought it or paid for it.
And ask for a new card. Stop the old card, cut it up and they will mail you a new one.

I know Wells Fargo is an easy bank to hate on, especially for GLP, but this is one of the reasons I've stuck with it: you can phone them 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and get your bank card shut down and report a fraud if you need to do. They have been very good too about not giving my money to any claim that looks like it doesn't belong there, based on my spending profile, and refunding the money if an unauthorized charge goes through.

They have up-to-date online service so you can check your account for any funny business every day. I do that too, because I don't trust anybody. When I had satellite ISP, they had a bad habit of double-billing me 'by mistake.' They always gave the money back but not before causing me some inconvenience, so even the ordinary business you do with people isn't immune to screw-ups and you have to keep your eye on it. My mother has a credit bureau that's 'supposed to be' better but they don't even have online service so if she has a problem (notice they tend to happen on the weekends?) she has to wait till she can personally visit them.

The culprits in your case, OP, might be somewhere you do business, like the grocery store or gas station. You didn't say if you're using a debit card anywhere - that's not a good idea because the money goes out too fast. Credit gives you more time to stop payment in the first place, again, if you check it regularly. When you get this business staightened out, you might consider getting at least one of your accounts in a 'real bank' that's there when you need it.

One question: do you trust all your relatives? Do you have roommates or 'significant others?' If you live with other people, that is the first place you should look for a problem. No offense meant here, but I learned this from experience so it was worth mentioning. They are typically the only people who know enough about you to really mess you up and they have immediate access to your personal info - and checkbook. Sure, it could be a sophisticated 'bank account hacker' but the answer is most usually closer to home.

You hate people because ONE thief hacked your account? Money which will be given back to you as they cover fraud insurance. Do you take responsibility for visiting sketchy webaites? For not having updated your antivirus? How about for having un necessary expenses such as "dpggy day care" when you just barely make your rent on time.

I bought my dog to the daycare this week because I was visiting family . I can afford my rent and I can afford him to stay at the daycare for the weekend. Plus I get paid Friday. This was just so unexpected.

I called my bank and I'm getting my money back Wednesday and a new card.

The bank said someone could have stolen it from using my card at pumps.

Oh well, I'll manage .

You said it, you will manage. I am not saying whatever happened to you was not unfortunate... But to say you hate people and FML are things you wamt to consider sayinh. You are blessed and I wonder if ypu are thamkful, as I said, people have terrifiyng problems compared to yours.

What bank doesn't have people working 24/7 365/yr? Surely there's an 800 number on your card that you can call.
