It doesn't take a mountain to shield this equipment. All they need are Faraday cages. It would be far cheaper to build a Faraday Cage around the entire building they use now in Colorado. I think this is a cover up for an elite safety bunker. Noting the equipment going in is not the secret. It is the people who are going there that is the secret. |

Since Sept. 11, 2001, the Defense Department has spent about $700 million to upgrade early-warning systems at the Cheyenne Mountain center. Anonymous Coward User ID: 66759599 Canada 04/11/2015 09:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Playing devils advocate here; I live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada The backup / secondary NORAD complex is here, just like Cheyenne Mountain. A few years ago, they mothballed the underground bunker, and built a top side base. If they were worried about EMP or whatever, then this base would also be moving back underground. No word of it happening at all here, and I have "uncles" on the base, my fiance's father used to be the base commander and hasn't said anything either. So, I suspect there is nothing going on to be concerned with.
