Re: US aerospace command moving to Cold War bunker, to escape potential EMP attack
Something fishy about this news story.

Military servers are already hardened to protect from EMP. It doesn't take a mountain to shield this equipment. All they need are Faraday cages.

It would be far cheaper to build a Faraday Cage around the entire building they use now in Colorado.

I think this is a cover up for an elite safety bunker.

Noting the equipment going in is not the secret. It is the people who are going there that is the secret.

The Cheyenne Mountain war room is to be placed in a status the military calls "warm standby," which means it could be reopened in hours if a need arose. Since Sept. 11, 2001, the Defense Department has spent about $700 million to upgrade early-warning systems at the Cheyenne Mountain center.

The Cheyenne bunker was designated as an alternative command center if needed.

Re: US aerospace command moving to Cold War bunker, to escape potential EMP attack
Playing devils advocate here;

I live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada

The backup / secondary NORAD complex is here, just like Cheyenne Mountain.

A few years ago, they mothballed the underground bunker, and built a top side base.

If they were worried about EMP or whatever, then this base would also be moving back underground.

No word of it happening at all here, and I have "uncles" on the base, my fiance's father used to be the base commander and hasn't said anything either.

So, I suspect there is nothing going on to be concerned with.

"Due to this binational nature of the NORAD agreement, some 33 American personnel belonging to the USAF's 1 Air Force Detachment 2 in the Canadian Sector Air Operations (SAOC). Training of the personnel who perform the air sovereignty mission is done by 51 AC&W (Operational Training) Squadron, an integral unit of 22 Wing."
