80 was good, people spent more time outdoors, their where absolutely no nanny laws,and you could actually own property not just rent it from the govt.

Kids were allowed to walk (ALONE) to the local neighborhood park and play without adult/parental supervision.

They were safe.

Honestly, I still think they'd be as safe as back then.

I was born in 73 and most of my formative years as a child and teen was in the 80's. I have to admit today fucking sucks and I feel sorry for my child because She will never know freedom. I grew up in Houston and even back then people didn't lock their doors or worry about the boogey man like they do today. The crime back then was committed mainly be one group and the news wasn't shy about putting those faces on the news either.

Your dad is correct. Music was awesome it actually meant something and people sang about real issues and it had meaning, it wasn't nastiness and sex, sex, sex. People didn't put up with B.S, they had balls! The police were there to help even drive you home if you were drunk. Everybody had money , school was cool, people had respect and cared about each other , we didn't have bullies , and if you were bullied you settled it the old fashion way by standing up for yourself being a victim wasn't cool.

I hated the 80's, the 70's stunk too.

90's were way better. Sorry but that's just my take.

Yes, I grew up in the 80s, and remember my parents taking me to the mall to have the police take pictures of me and fingerprint me so that I could be found if I were abducted.

that was a regular event back in the mid-80s, police would put on those events, because it was so common for kids to be abducted back then.

During the 80's the movies were quirky and the music wasn't good at all. Styles were bright, all new, no fading and padded shoulders, Cyndi Lauper or Madonna styles were the trend, funky leggins, big hair, skewed hair or mullets.

The only good things that came out of the 80's were Nintendo and the Smurfs.
