COLONEL BLEEP - first color cartoon from the 1950s featured an ET-like space & time traveling character
Earth draws the distant attention of extraterrestrials after they discern human nuclear testing.

Notice the odd cast of main characters that transcend time, from a living cavemen to the "Interplanetary Intelligence Agent" ET-like Colonel Bleep who apparently comes from the future.

There were many very odd cartoons and sitcoms from the '50s and '60s featuring flying saucers like USAF Roger Ramjet who in one episode was tasked with determining the mysterious origin of UFOs.

The date mentioned in the cartoon of 16 July 1945 is the above ground "Trinity" atomic test conducted at Alamogordo Test Range in New Mexico.

Is this an educational television show?

More like an "indoctrinational" television show.

Re: COLONEL BLEEP - first color cartoon from the 1950s featured an ET-like space & time traveling character
interesting, seems the UFO interest of the public was intentionally planned

US Admiral Byrd was actually quoted in news media saying the US could face attack from, basically, flying saucers .. he said that after getting back from the South Pole

The Roswell incident seems a little to obvious an attempt at a coverup in a way ... i mean, that photo with the general and the guy with the weather balloon .. their expressions weren't very convincing, were they? its as if we were EXPECTED to think they were lying

Now that you point out these cartoons and such, it does seem that public interest in UFO's were by design

Why do you think? Was it necessary to keep the public focused on something EXTERNAL, after WW2 ?

That seems to be a recurrent theme -- keep the public's attention focused on external things, the axis powers, the ufos, the cold war, now its terrorists
