Genetic modifying could create some awesome strains

Selective breeding and GM are two vastly different things. Practically every edible fruit and vegetable on the market is the result of generations of selective breeding. GM is far more complex and does things like giving plants immunity to pesticides, producing higher crop yields of more weather resistant plants and so.

We dont know the long term effects of what GM plants can do to our health, wellbeing and many other factors. For the most part its probably going to cauae minimal to no damage but when compaines like Monsanto create plants that dont produce seed giving people the ability to continue growing crops rather than cornering the market forcing them to buy seeds each year from 1 company, thats fucked up. Plus if it spreads throughout the eco system we are effectively destroying our edible crops....
