Today's republicans are worthless, but at least their party wasn't evil from the beginning. The dems have always been a party of opportunistic sociopaths. Euthanasia is a good thing.

First of all, it is voluntary. And here, it's only allowed if someone is severely ill and having pain all the time etc. Sometimes for psychiatric illnesses.

I would prefer euthanasia over having to hang myself.

The lawmaker was being facetious. He is not recommending euthanasia.

The issue isn't Democrat vs. Republicans.

The point of the comment is that there are people who believe he was serious - they did not read the article, or understand that it was sarcasm. They just read a headline, and reacted without fact checking.

You make an interesting point. I know I wouldn't want to be kept artificially alive by machines if I was in a state of non-functionality with no chance of return. We have a friend in such state. He's been "plugged in" for years. Ward of the state. He's not really alive, but keeping many employed. Very sad.

Just remember, anyone at anytime can become disabled.

It is not something that is ever expected or planned for.
