Anonymous Coward User ID: 68924988 United States 04/21/2015 09:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | law enforcements job isn't to beat people up, it's to arrest people suspected to be guilty of a crime. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68957808 this kind of crap is why people run in the first place. THIS They can do their job without crossing rhe line and murdering people or beating the snot out of them. No doubt some of the 'victims' deserved a beating, but that's not a police officers job in a civilized society. |

This PUNK stole a car, then a horse, and two weeks later we are paying him $650,000 dollars? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58188763 This is BULLSHIT WHAT. THE. FUCK ??????? [link to www.nbclosangeles.com] Man Assaulted by Deputies Settles for $650,000 A man beaten by San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies during his arrest caught on video, has settled with San Bernardino County for $650,000. Kim Baldonado reports for the NBC4 News at Noon on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. The man beaten by sheriff's deputies during his arrest on live chopper video, capping a pursuit on horseback through the high desert northeast of Los Angeles, has settled with San Bernardino County for $650,000. County officials said in a statement they came to that agreement with Francis Jared Pusok over his April 9 arrest "in order to avoid litigation expenses." "The sole purpose of this agreement for both parties is to avoid the costs involved in litigation," said board of supervisors Chairman James Ramos. "This agreement is a fair outcome for everyone involved, including the taxpayers." In a statement, Pusok said he and his family are pleased a settlement was reached and hope the attention to this case will be a catalyst for change. snip Have you seen the video of the beating? I'm surprised the guy is still alive. |

I think I would forgo that and let them squirm in court. They screwed up and they know it. The only reason they offered what they did is because they know it would not have a chance of prevailing in court. I think if I was the object of the deputies' violence in this case, I would only agree to that settlement if it included the immediate firing of all deputies involved, along with termination of any and all benefits, including retirement. This settlement only paves the way for it to happen again. Maybe they'll kill somebody next time. |

I'm sure the guy is a POS, but those deputies gave him a serious beatdown because they thought nobody was watching. Can't break the law (violate someone's rights) while enforcing the law; 1a. Wrongdoing in enforcement of the law negates the force of any prosecution; 2. The people doing the beating should have been sued in their individual capacity; 2a. Said beaters should have lost their jobs and paid out of their own pocket; 3. Since said "officers" doing the beating aren't legally allowed, the state should have been immune from their actions because the "officers" didn't do it--the flesh and blood men did it. To summarize: The officers should have paid the money and lost their jobs. The "taxpayers" should have paid nothing. |

However, I think that the horse should be able to to sue the man who stole him and rode him around. Horses have souls too ya know? ;) |
