Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 17321026 United States 05/07/2015 09:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He's coming home, finally..today is the day... The first day of the rest of our lives..if any person has a chance at a full recovery , he does... In the last week he's learned to walk and talk again, he's even writing and reading... I'm so grateful this wasn't as bad as I thought it was at first.. We have a long road ahead of us..but I think he'll fully recover in a year... I got all kinds of activities to help him relearn things like balance and fine motor skills... It's gonna be a hard year, but, I think we can do it |

Doc said he should make a full recovery in 5-8 months.... The part that's the hardest for me w all this is his personality change since the stroke, he's so short tempered ... But hopefully that gets better as he gets better |

He will love you back for it his lifetime by sticking by him during this hard time. Even if he tells you that he hates you or doesn't love you any more. All emotions talking!!!! It's going to be tough and rough. Swallow the shit for a wile. If you love him truly. |

Quoting: Life changed 17321026 I'm so depressed I've had 3 strokes in the last 8mth two bloodclots on the left side and a hole in my cerebellum centre bottom classed as both types of stroke the bloodclots apparently dissolve eventually given enough time and the clopidogrel prevent more clots the hole in the cerebellum is a problem - its exactly centre bottom and has removed any semblance of balance I had prior to it happening - it isn't bleeding out so there is no medication I can take for it - it will eventually expand and I will require surgery - if it does start bleeding I am taking anti-clotting atabs for the two clots that then become a life threatening serious issue as the bleeding can't clot to stop both types of stroke are - bloodclot sealing an artery/vein and a burst of an artery/vein [a hole is classed as a non leaking burst my right arm is still extremely weak even though I do the excercises and both my legs are ridiculously incompetent most of the day if I venture out I have to take crutches or I fall all over like a drunk now I feel a waste of space I was very active apparently the electrical connections will all remap where they can so he has to do all the right excercise's even if he thinks they're rubbish as your brain can't reroute connections if it doesn't know they're there because of lack of use I was under the impression that winning the lottery for instance was a life changing event got to tell you all the money on the planet isn't worth this situation it happened so fast 1 minute I was fine having a cup of coffee next I was blues n two's with an highspeed escorted freerun still don't get why your husband never changed inside he still loves you just as much if not more than before takes about 12mth to make a good chunk of progress after a stroke - no bravado crap take it easy means just that I still smoke but that's the worst thing to do as nicotine thickens your blood up don't let your depression eat you up you all need to be smiley happy all the time - stress kills via strokes happiness is the way to a fuller speedier recovery sorry ots so long took ages with redoing mistakes [using stroke arm to type as exercise] hope you can understand that the amount of recovery your husband manages to get is mainly due to his environment and his family - drugs can only help in prevention - the damage is already done once stroke occurs and its then a matter of damage limitation hope you read this and it was helpful in any way its helped me by simply taking the hour to type it |

Raye User ID: 68855665 United States 05/15/2015 06:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Op I havrn't had time to read the entire thread but want to say I will be saying prayers for you both, and your families. My grandmother had a stroke when she was 45 and she had a 9, 14, and 16 year old. This was back in 1953, and she lived a happy, if though a little restricted, life! I cannot even imagine the leaps and bounds of knowledge that has happened since then! She learned to write with her left hand, she was cooking and cleaning her home within a year. And she still had her wits about her, and was very funny. I remember her cooking the turkeys and hams for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners (and gravy and 2 or 3 pies)! Just remember to take breaks for yourself so you don't get run down. It will take time and patience and we will be here if you have to vent. Prayers and positive thoughts being sent your way. Take it easy and don't get overwhelmed. I am female, as was the first kitten, Raye, I helped bring into this world and had the treasure of giving her love for 7 1/2 short years. My handle here is in her honor. |

The speech therapist made me up some cards to pass out to people explaining he's had a stroke and that a stroke is a brain injury..and these cards have saved the day every time I've had to pull it out.. You can literally watch someone go from about to punch him in the nose, to being so sorry they ask if there is anything they can do to help... He's aware he's having these problems and working hard on them...he is my inspiration, and i continue to be amazed by how hard he is working to get better |

My elder brother had a left-brain hemorrhagic stroke a few years back. One of the best things to help him recover was hyperbaric oxygen treatments. This supersaturates the body with oxygen, thus promoting the rapid growth of stem cells, increase of circulation, etc.. It is well worth looking into. |

The sooner he can start therapy, the better. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64705496 Check it out, the results can be amazing. Ugh. I am so very sorry. Quoting: Life changed 17321026 I'm so depressed Research DMSO but it may be too late. Find it in farm stores. Look it up for yourselves. "If administered intravenously within 90 minutes of a stroke, it prevents permanent damage to the central nervous system." "Despite overwhelming evidence pointing to DMSO's therapeutic benefits, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) refuses to approve the use or prescription of DMSO for anything other than the treatment of an obscure bladder condition called interstitial cystitis. That's in spite of the fact that DMSO is known to be safer than aspirin. Only 8 states have effectively bypassed the authority of the FDA because their respective state legislatures have legalized the prescribing of DMSO. These states are Florida, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Don't have any links just did cut and paste random information a long time ago. So research yourself and use at your own risk or not. |
