You people are acting like this is a sporting event.

You are actually excited by it!

Look at yourselves!

It's natural to be interested/horrified/worried/tuned-in/aghast at large events.

That's human nature since the beginning of time, and has nothing to do with GLP or the "kind of people" who come here. There's just "people," period.

People can't help themselves--most of us (if we're normal) have empathy for others and when we see trouble, one reason we watch it from the sidelines is that we are emotionally affected by seeing something happen to others that could also happen to ourselves.

If you want to root out an interest in violence, start with MSM.

Re: Do you realize that finding what is happening in Baltimore exciting is a sure sign of a sick mind?
With all due respect, I would disagree--we have a deeply-ingrained biological instinct to survive, and (sickly enough perhaps) that means watching other people who are in harm's way to see what happens.

In other words, voyeurism--in one sense--is just an education.

We call it "rubbernecking" or "sick fascination" but really, we just can't help ourselves, because when we see a guy lying there, inwardly we're thinking, "My God, that could be me or my child." I think our instinct to gather information is incredibly powerful.

Of course, hopefully, when we're watching an actual event in front of our eyes, we'll rush in to help if at all possible. Humans also demonstrate amazing altruism--running into a burning building to save someone. Animals do the same.

Personally, I think there is something that transcends simple survivalism--I think we (and even animals) have an instinct to help others.
