Preferably with blender, as there is extensive tutorials on youtube, and believe me its really intuitive and well implimented for a free open source software. Other options are z brush, but ive tried it and its frustrating and over complicated. |

And theres a huge community and copious amounts of tutorials on youtube because of that. i cant really think of any downsides to blender, other than its cycles renderer is not state of the art, but you could get vray and others to run on it. Oh and dont ever try and re arrange its user interface, be warned. |
