its almost like these guys never heard of solar panels, or wind turbines, or water turbines, or nuclear power.

All they see is oil.

There is no technology in existence that can harness the amount of energy needed from The Sun to get a air compressor working. Not for individual use anyway.

I invested in solar power before. I lost a lot of money on that because the costs are greater than the amount of electricity produced. Solar power produces a lot less electricity than people think it does.

very dense cities, retirement communities, golf cart markets are the markets to target. not the US as a whole, only in the largest dense cities.

Let's be honest,it runs on electricity which is used to compress the air into the car. Electricity is generated by coal, or natural gas (OMG not Fracking), or even worse.....NUCLEAR power!!!!!!!!

Run from this environmental biohazard! Run!

But seriously, it simply transfers the energy storage problem into a different form, being compressed air instead of fossil fuel or batteries. I am not impressed.

I would assume there is not going to be an air conditioner on this car due to power consumption. That is a deal breaker here in the south where summers reach 95 degrees with 95% humidity.

Remind us of that when we reach 500 ppm of CO2. We are already in excess of 400 ppm. The danger zone.

These will never pass safety tests in the USA. I'm pretty sure its been tried before already.

Imagin a full-sized pickup truck slamming into this thing.

I saw that episode. I love shark tank. I'm a dreamer. So I have great ideas. I just need INxJ's to help me implement them.

They struck a deal contingent it passes safety and distribution is not just Hawaii but the entire USA.

Solar concentrators can generate in excess of 800 degrees C, more than enough to create steam and drive a compressor.

Wonder if the air compressor is powered by air too.

Maybe it's air - all the way down.

Just like all new car inventors or new engine inventors, I'm sure those two will conveniently die of "heart attacks".

OMG whoever was so stupid as to write I don't have a clue on energy doesnt understand what the real energy is. We should already jetson.

Study the pistol shrimp and learn something. We don't need to use fossil fuels for anything.

this is not new tech.air power is basically steam reworked a little.wind mill will fill a compressor more efficiently than making power to then power up a compressor.just like they have been used to pump water forever dumbass.stored air could also be used to to make electric power if you had the tanks to hold it.oil rules because oil is cheap for now.but air is cheaper.the problem with electric is it is hard to store electricity cheaply and efficiently.air can be compressed and stored just nobody doing it

so can you get air at a gas station? and every 100 miles stop at next one so it would be free, will free for the user.
i can see people getting it if this could be the case. drive for free.

in other words five hundreths of a percent.

Of course its a city car and you need a real car for travel or what not, but for dayly use THIS one can do the trick

This video is so incredibly stupid...a compressed air generator that compresses the air while you drive presented as perpetual motion deliberately put this way to fool those who have little clue about physics.

Well, here is a clue. You have to compress the air for the compressed air generator to work. And you certainly won't get your compressed air tank refueled for free, as compressing the air requires some other energy source.

The advantage of the compressed air car is that if you produce the energy by gas or coal or other means, this can be done more centralized with high quality filters and even result in some of the filtered materials to be actually useful rather than be blown into our air as pollutants.
Most important, it keeps cities clean of any pollution cause by cars.


You can of course, similar to flywheel breaking systems, use a similar system to compress air while you are breaking, rather than waste this energy into heat. That's very feasible as air is all around your car while you drive.
But eventually you will have to refuel at some point and it will cost you something. Not even compressed air is free.

I suspect you mean a "flywheel braking system" as a "flywheel breaking system" is something altogether different and not to be recommended if you are anywhere near it!
