Golds is up $11. Also one of the things that I have seen is that when metals spike in price it always seems to happen before noon eastern time. Metals never seem to spike in the afternoon. Just from what I have seen.

The only problem is that this centralizes that currency and makes it subject to trusting a third party.

Bitcoin functions without trust and is completely decentralized and autonomous.

I do like the idea, but bitcoin is such a breakthrough in tech that it doesn't need to be backed by anything physical. It backs itself with similar qualities that gold has. It can't be created and is scarce. It cannot tarnish or wear away. It is almost infinitely divisible. It is instantly verifiable, But it knows no boarders or time, unlike gold. You can transact instantly anywhere for free.
