They could if they wanted to, they just don't read it. Every Catholic has a Bible, it sits somewhere as a decoration, probably never been opened. The Catholic church has always discouraged Bible reading.

If a Catholic were to ever read the thing he'd find his phony whore religion is mostly not anywhere in it.

Re: Can catholics understand the word of God or not?
As a Christian first, and a Catholic second- the Protestant obsession with Catholics reminds me of the University of Texas and Texas A&M college rivalry.

If you attended UT, you know that the only day of the year you care that Texas A&M exists, at lest in terms of a traditional rival, was when UT was playing Texas A&M on Thanksgiving. But at Texas A&M, their hatred of UT runs so strangely deep, they actually wear shirts or put stickers on their cars depicting the hate, often times more so than wearing their own school's colors. I remember one year when I attended UT, the rivalry game was being hosted at UT that year...Texas A&M fans were arrested for pissing on the Texas capitol building's steps as a show of hate...for UT.

If you're going to practice Christianity in these strange days we live in, then practice it wholeheartedly. Do not divide Christian brothers and sisters because they wear a funny hat or have a different takeaway from Scripture than your own interpretation.

Ask questions and learn from each other, perhaps test the resolve of each others' faith? Absolutely.

Alienate and belittle? Your self-diagnosed absolution will only magnify the continuance of the global persecution and minimization of Christian values.

Would you say the same thing about Mormonism? They claim to be rooted in Christianity.

The problem is... nothing they do reflects any plain reading of the Bible.

So you can't call your own daddy father either? You're a moran, OP. As usual, you fundies get everything wrong because all of you are dismally uneducated. How well do you understand antique Greek? That's what everything in the New Testament was written in and even that would still be only the 'reporter' of the day's personal interpretation on local dialects and the sentiments they conveyed. Almost nobody else in the region at that time could even sign their name. Even early Romans couldn't, until they got Greek tutors to help them establish the foundations of a common language for Roman citizens and devise a system of writing for it. At least every Catholic schoolkid learns that much before he's out of first grade which is a lot more than anyone can say for you.

It's not just that.

Catholics are idolaters, the Bible tells us this about idolater:
Ps 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
Ps 115:5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
Ps 115:6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
Ps 115:7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
Ps 115:8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

Notice how the idolater is blind.

it's repeated again in:
Ps 135:15 ¶ The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
Ps 135:16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
Ps 135:17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
Ps 135:18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.

and that's just two of many other places that forbids idolatry but that the catholic priest promotes, every catholic church is full of idols, the official catholic site has a webshop that sells idols to the blind to keep them in blindness.

Only way for these idolaters to see is if Jesus opens their spiritually blinded eyes but only then. If they are not willing he will not open their eyes and they will continue straight into hell.

Woes to Scribes and Pharisees
(Luke 11:37-54)

1Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Re: Can catholics understand the word of God or not?
the Catholic Church is the ONLY true authority in matters of interpretation of scripture and teaching of doctrine or theology.

The Catholic Church is the ONE TRUE church which was established by Christ Himself, with Peter as first Pope and the apostles as the first bishops.

It was the Church who produced the Bible, and the Church knew very well the teachings and the manner in how the Scriptures should be handled.

The traditions are the actions and the hands and feet of Jesus as instituted the Sacraments Himself.

Once the Pope raises from the dead, The world will follow him and He will tell everyone to follow the antichrist as they rule the earth for a few more months before Jesus comes in the clouds. He will not come in bodily form, but His spirit will rule among the souls who belong to His kingdom.

the dead will rise and accept their just Judgement.

You also a bigger liar also, because the new testament was written in the language of the lower class, koine greek, the language of the average man, internationally understood in its day by the commoner.

Referring to Religious leadership
Jesus commanded that no man be called father because only GOD was the father abba papa pope, and his disciples were not to be called rabbi ;teacher, because they had one master and teacher, the Christ.

Why is it not clear to you catholics you "church" is purposely defying Jesus command?

Koine Greek arose as a common dialect

the New Testament. The teaching of the Testaments was aimed at the most common people, and for that reason they use the most popular language of the era

18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19 "Do they provoke me to anger"? saith the LORD: "do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces"?

25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: 26 Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers".

VIRGIN MARY (WHOM THE CATHOLICS CALL THE "QUEEN OF HEAVEN") APPARITION AT LOURDES

What happened?

"was out gathering firewood with her sister and a friend when she reportedly had the first of 18 visions"

"the children gather the wood"

Our Father gives us all the information we need to KNOW THE TRUTH, if only we HEAR and BELIEVE.

Now, there are millions of Catholics worshipping the virgin mary and believing the Lourdes LIE.

Mary is supposedly in heaven and look at all the statues/images. Note that there is no mention of hell either in this verse. It's heaven, earth or waters below. No mention of fire.

Re: Can catholics understand the word of God or not?
Without EXTENSIVE deprogramming NO modern human being can understand the Word of God. The Word of God is severely dumbed down when it is put into any language, it originates as pure sound which is broken down into dualistic thought which can not contain the actual truth behind the words. There's the gap.
