Is recording phone calls without telling the other person legal in the US or anywhere else? | |

Phone calls qualify automatically, but you can record anything that's meant for your ears and you are present during the recording. No need to tell the others. And yes, here it qualifies as evidence in court. |

In Maryland, both parties must consent. Why not correspond with the state officials via email? Then you have a paper trail. Sad but true that people have a license to LIE when talking on a phone call ... but such behavior is State Sanctioned and if someone calls another person on their lies via a recording then the person who made the recording, even if a party to the conversation, is the one who committed a punishable crimes!! |

Is it legal? Can it be used as evidence? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64735053 How is it in other countries? From my understanding, here in Canada, you can record anything as long as one person knows they are being recorded. So, if you are recording police, children's aid (child protection services), government employees, etc., the only person who needs to know they are being recorded is the recorder. It is really funny how fast people change when you've recorded what you need and then tell them mid-conversation that you have been recording. They get quiet or walk away. Usually because they messed up and they know it. |
