I've been doing that for a while now.

If they think we're going to buy all this junk from overseas I got another thing coming. When they start losing money they'll see that wasn't so smart after all to take away jobs from Americans and ship it off to overseas foreign lands in search of the almighty buck.

Just got a pig for 20 bucks. Feed the little mother fuckers and I know for a fact where my food comes from. Want to come on over for a pig roast? Don't mind the other livestock and fish ponds. The veggies like the crap the fish give. You eat that Chinese bullshit, I'm done putting my faith in a government that don't give a fuck about me.

Subject: Be very careful at the supermarket !

Be very careful at the supermarket !
Food for thought...

Smithfield Farms, the largest pork producing farm in the USA was sold in September to China with the unanimous support of its stockholders!! The hogs will still be raised here, but slaughtered and packaged for sale there before being sent back here. This includes labels of
ï· Morrell
ï· Eckrich
ï· Krakus
ï· Cudahy
ï· Premium Hams
ï· Cook's
ï· Gwaltney

The same with many chickens. They can now be shipped there, but when they come back all that needs to be labeled is that they WERE RAISED IN THE USA. Not that they were processed in China !!!

Our great FDA at work again. The chickens will be all processed and most sold to fast food restaurants for sandwiches, along with schools and supermarkets. The China slaughter and processing are not nearly equal to the requirements here.

*BAD FOOD.*
We recently learned that Starkist Tuna is now owned by Korea, and is in big conflict with the U.S.concerning quality, safety, and records, which Korea refuses to produce.
Read several articles on Google about this, and even one that was defending the eating of tilapia said to avoid the fish that came from China?

Also, I had just returned home from buying Albertson's 4-day special of 4 bags of frozen tilapia for the price of one? Sure enough, on the top of the bags, it read "farm raised", and on the bottom in small print it said, "China"

read all the way to the end.....

Recently a Food inspector on TV... said he had lived overseas and he had seen the filthy conditions their foods are raised and processed in. It is enough to make you throw up. Some foreign workers have to wear masks as they work in these places, because the food is so rotten and filthy, it makes them want to throw up. Many of their fish on Fish Farms are fed raw sewage daily. He said he has seen so much filth throughout their food growing and processing that he would "never" eat any of it. They raise this filth, put some food coloring and some flavorings on it, then they ship it to the USA & Canada for YOU to consume and feed to YOUR families. They have no Food & Safety Inspectors. They ship it to you to buy and poison your families and friends.

Imported food we eat and the junk we buy:
ï· Green Giant frozen vegetables are from China,
ï· and so are most of Europe's Best.
ï· Arctic Gardens are OK
so is
ï· Birdseye.

*Never buy the grocery store garlic unless it is clearly marked from USA or Canada*, the other stuff is grown in people poop (even worse than chicken poop). China is the largest producer of garlic in the world; U.S. is next.

*Buy only local honey*, much honey is shipped in huge containers from China and re-packed here.

Cold-FX is grown and packed in China and is full of fecal bacteria. Doesn't work anyway, big scam.

If the country of origin is not clearly marked, beware

If produce, ask an employee.

Watch out for packages which state "prepared for", "packed by" or "imported by". We don't understand the lack of mandatory labeling, especially the produce.

The country of origin should be clearly shown on the item in the store.

Go to the local farmers' markets in season and keep a wary eye open the rest of the year.

Please read this very carefully, and read to the very bottom. It's important for all of us.

How is it possible to ship food from China cheaper than having it produced in the
U. S. or Canada?

FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA '. - SO, for a FEW MORE CENTS, BUY THE *LIBERTY* BRAND.

*GOLD BRAND or DOLE is from CALIFORNIA*.

Beware, Costco sells canned peaches and pears in a plastic jar that come from China ..

ALL "HIGH LINER" AND MOST OTHER FROZEN FISH PRODUCTS COME FROM CHINA OR INDONESIA. THE PACKAGE MAY SAY "PACIFIC SALMON" ON THE FRONT, BUT LOOK FOR THE SMALL PRINT. MOST OF THESE PRODUCTS COME FROM FISH FARMS IN THE ORIENT WHERE THERE ARE NO REGULATIONS ON WHAT IS FED TO THESE FISH.

*Recently The Montreal Gazette had an article* by the Canadian Government on how Chinese feed the fish: They suspend chicken wire crates over the fish ponds, and the fish feed on chicken s..t.

If you search the internet about what the Chinese feed their fish, you'll be alarmed; eg: growth hormones, expired anti- biotic from humans? Never buy any type of fish or shellfish that comes from these countries
ï· Vietnam
ï· China
ï· Philippines

Check this out personally.

Steinfeld's Pickles are made in India - just as bad!

Another example is in canned mushrooms. No-Name brand came from Indonesia.

Also check those little fruit cups. They used to be made in Canada in the Niagara region until about 2 years ago. They are now packaged in China. Most sold in Aldi stores.

While the Chinese export inferior and even toxic products, dangerous toys, and goods to be sold in North American markets, the media wrings its hands! Yet, 70% of North Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Well, duh ! Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges?

SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, CANADA and the U.S.

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

THINK ABOUT THIS

If 200 million North Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor ... fast! The downside? Some Canadian/American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory.

Just one month of trading losses will hit the Chinese for 8% of their North American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness are worth it.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are intelligent, and NOBODY can take us for granted *Start reading labels more closely and buy something else even if it cost a few cents more*.

Re: FOOD WARNING! Read this and read all of it!
Surely the shipping costs alone would make this completely nonviable?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69191956

It only enriches the investors in the oil spent for shipping both ways.

Don't forget the plastics and aluminum and steel companies that spin money from those containers being shipped around.

Much of those imports are fronts for other controlled substances anyways, through organized crime or black bag projects within the shipping companies. China is a route for human smuggling, there might be more than pigs on those shipments. Honey looks like heroin syrup, for example, something that can be shipped in.

It's not of a good conscience to buy such a long distant foreign made product. China has the most popular people factories though, something that has to be done to keep their people busy without going poor.

Just. Stop. Eating. So. Much. Save the problem of so much importings.

About that chicken, the food bank gave away, like 5 pound boxes of chicken pieces that the public didn't want to consume. It's industrial foodstuff. The pieces of chicken are shreds of raw meat. Great for stir-fry, or similar to the crap chicken in taco bell chicken burritos.

Sometimes I fear, what if one of these shreds isn't real chicken, but some other bird or animal? Who cares, I get to not starve this week from whatever.

You eat tilapia....fuckin nasty. It's a bottom feeder.
 Quoting: Chip

I can't believe all the complaining about their tilapia coming from China. It's disgusting no matter where it comes from.

Do you think tilapia is just another fish with a vaguely Hawaiian name, like mahi mahi? It's a freshwater fish from Africa that prefers brackish water. Like most Africans, it's agressive, grows incredibly fast, and spawns at a high rate. With fast growth, it defecates at high volume. At most hatcheries, they swim at close quarters in a thick murk of their own feces.

It was originally brought to the US to provide fish for hospital patients that couldn't tolerate a fish odor. It didn't take long to figure out that corporate food eating Americans don't like their fish to smell or taste like fish.

It also will give you next to no healthy Omega 3's, while delivering a crap load of unhealthy Omega 6's.

Oh, and one escaped tilapia from a hatchery can destroy the entire ecosystem of a lake, effectively killing it in a year. It's already happened in Central America, where a lot of your non-China tilapia comes from.

But hey, it's cheap and tastes like chicken.

I appreciate the warning OP but it's not a new issue ... its been going on for decades, but you have sensationalized it beyond credibility ... if what you claim is true, we would all be dead or ill by now

I concur, the food we are being sold has little or no nutritional value, and is crammed with "additives" for whatever reason ... I am not in denial, I was convinced of that, decades ago and I grow my own food from heirloom seeds, and because of FUshima, I've been growing it indoors

it is a conscious choice that each of us make, to read the label or not ... but the only thing that Americans are interested in is how much FAT is in the product ... and some are becoming aware of how much SUGAR is in the product and if they read the label and are satisfied with what's in the product they will continue to buy it without reading the label again, even when the product claims boldly to be "new and improved" with extra "ingredients, assuming that if it was good before... it must be better now ...They BELIEVE that when it says "all natural ingredients" that it is improved by "natural flavorings" and made safe by "preservatives"

and don't kid yourself about "Farmer's Markets" because 99 percent of them are filled with the same product from the same loading and shipping depots that the buyers from your supermarkets are filled with ... only they ARE NOT labeled

an animal, born to a mother that was fed GMOs but is fed "non gmo" feed, is not "Organic" ... the GMOs genetically MODIFIED it and its produce is the result of that change and is infact genetically modified, even if it never eats GMO food ... and if it is " grass fed" what makes you believe that what is now sprayed in the air, is not on the grass they are eating ?

So, to be safe, buy only fresh and grown local, or raised local,

No canned goods.
No frozen products.
Be careful about your processed meats.
And local farm chicken and beefs.
Seafood is all too risky imo.
And as far as mcdonalds and all else fast food chains ...well, no i never touch that poison.

I cant trust produce from the supermarket these days.

I get an organic fruit and veg box delivery, free spring
water from a local spring, local free range organic eggs,
local fresh chicken and local honey.

I dont drink milk or eat cheese but would never buy that
crap from the supermarket, god knows whats in it.

Supermarket food is big business, its not about quality of
food but for profit - its all wrapped in plastic and shipped hundreds of miles - thats not fresh to me.

I am growing greens and veg in my garden so I know what
its grown with and really fresh garden to table.

I never knowingly buy produce from China or Japan.

Support your own growers in UK or USA and dont give your
money to China, fuck them.

I'm glad to see that you are so optimistic, but the Chinese government begs to differ with you about agriculture and pollution. I think I will listen to them, they have feet on the ground.

OP has barely skimmed the surface, not even touching on import refusals at our docks, the widespread practice of feeding veterinarian antibiotics banned in the US to fish, inclusion of contaminated product with clean products in exports, etc. You can read the import refusal reports here, and they will give you a better perspective than your own opinion:
[link to www.accessdata.fda.gov]

I will not argue about the education system and the saturation of the environment here. I will take exception to the statement about the Farmer's Markets, at least here. I know many of the growers personally, and this is certainly not the case. I think you must have had some bad experiences.

However, we have nowhere near the problem in the US and Canada that they have in China. It just isn't nearly as bad here because of environmental regulations.

This is from a three year old article, and it has only got worse:

"Officials struggling to respond to China’s year of environment protests

Within a few months of 2012, China saw three mass environmental protests. Could this prompt the government to improve public access to information and rule of law?

Zhou Lin (a pseudonym), has chosen to research environmental protests as part of her Masters degree in environmental law at Peking University...

Zhou is not the only one scratching her head. On November 17, she attended an academic seminar called “Conflict Resolution in the Public Sector: Theory and Practice”. Participants included professors from universities, the Chinese Academy of Governance, and the Central Committee Party School, along with community representatives, NGO workers and even a judge.

The day-long seminar included four presentations on environmental protests. Host Chang Jian, a professor from the Zhou Enlai School of Government at Nankai University, repeatedly asked: “Apart from negotiations, what solutions are there?”

More incidents, more attention

Zhou Lin’s course materials are missing two striking statistics.

First, since 1996, the number of environmental protests in China has been growing by 29% per year. This figure came from Yang Zhaofei, vice-chair of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, at a speech to a recent special meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People’s Congress.

Second, over 300,000 petitions were received on environmental matters during the 11th Five Year Plan. China’s petitioner masses now include many with environmental complaints.

And, within just a few months of 2012, we saw popular protests sparked by environmental concerns in Shifang in Sichuan province, Qidong in Jiangsu and Ningbo in Zhejiang.
...
At a press conference during the recent 18th National Party Congress, environmental protection minister Zhou Shengxian said, when asked about the increase in environmental protests, that this was a “pattern” and that “the environment is currently a sensitive issue.”

They use the ocean as a protection barrier. A protection barrier from criminal charges. China is where we get our tubs of grease for the water systems too. its where they add all the "pesticides", toxins and other poisons.

-Eat whole foods only. if it looks like a fish, eat it. If it looks like a square breaded block of something that smells like fish, don't.
-Never eat canned foods
-Stop drinking city water
-Drink certified spring, well, or actual spring water
-Stop taking all "USA made "medicines" and Vaccinations
-Avoid all "generic" made supplements, medicines, and vitamins.
-Stop taking birth control
-Stop using lubricated condoms
-Stop using deodorants and antiperspirants

Then all you need to worry about is high altitude chemical dispersals which will be no problem whatsoever if you stop the above.

Its a 'accumulative' thing. Not any one thing will kill you but combined = possible FUBAR

it's profitable because China has
no labor laws, no unions, no
health benefits and the workers
are disposable

so chinese labor is very cheap

it's legal due to UN Free Trade Agreements

but it's really not fair trade,
as the workforce restrictions/laws
are not the same in both countries

and the difference between the price of
the product made in US and the price of
the product made in China is so much

that it more than pays for the shipping
back and forth, 2-way trip

and still makes a profit

It also will give you next to no healthy Omega 3's, while delivering a crap load of unhealthy Omega 6's.

Oh, and one escaped tilapia from a hatchery can destroy the entire ecosystem of a lake, effectively killing it in a year. It's already happened in Central America, where a lot of your non-China tilapia comes from.

But hey, it's cheap and tastes like chicken.

They grow fast. You get more fish that are ready to eat faster. I have them and catfish in my ponds. I can make anything taste good. I'm healthy as an ox so I must be doing something right. You go on and eat that Chinese shit. I'll survive an apocalypse.

Some Tilapia I have bought has no Flavor, how is that possible.

Selective breeding takes it's toll. You strengthen one trait at the cost of another. It's nothing new. They come from cichlids that are indigenous to Africa. My father used to breed the aquarium pet kind. He would buy the best looking fish and breed it with his best for a better looking fish. Tilapia are bred to grow bigger. They grow faster. They are easy to keep alive.

I like catfish better but I mix it up. Catfish are harder to prepare but not really that much of a problem. The fish are a great way to grow fruits and vegetables in an aquaponics setup. It's work and it does pay off. There's just something about feeding yourself that makes it all worth while.

I have a chest full of seeds. I have charts on what grows best here. I have charts that tell me at what time of the year to start certain things. Hell I even grow my own tobacco.

You learn as you go mostly. You need to understand how things work. I had to buy a supplement for my plants because they were low on iron about a month ago. It did wonders. The internet is full of information to get you started. You may find something that works out by yourself. The first part is understanding the basics.

Potato chips - like Lays and all other big brands that I can think of - BLEACH THEIR POTATOES AND WASH THEM SO THOROUGHLY that no nutrients survive the bashing!

Search for local regional brand food and look up how it is produced.
