He added that the Christian community grows “sick with worldliness” when “it does not have the joy of Christ.” “A Christian without joy is not Christian. A Christian who continually lives in sadness is not Christian. And a Christian who, in the moment of trial, of illness, of so many difficulties, loses peace – something is lacking in him.” These two words – “fear” and “joy” – and what each means for the Christian community, were at the center of the Holy Father’s homily. Speaking first on fear, Pope Francis explained: “A fearful Christian is a person who has not understood the message of Jesus.” This kind of fear provokes a self-centered selfishness which leads to a sort of paralysis. It “harms us. It weakens us, it diminishes us. It even paralyzes us,” the Pope said. Recalling how Jesus told Saint Paul to speak and not be afraid, he said: “Fear is not a Christian attitude.” more at link [link to www.ewtnnews.com] What's so shocking, crazy and bizarre about this? Seems he's on track to me and I'm not a RC! That which is - has already been, And what is to be - has already been. Quote: King Solomon. |

Pope Francis then turned his reflection to “joy,” which he said is not simply an emotion. “Christian joy is not simply enjoyment, is not a fleeting cheerfulness,” but “a gift of the Holy Spirit.” A Christian who lives in joy does so because “the Lord reigns, the Lord is at the right hand of the Father,” the pontiff said. “The Lord has looked upon me and called me and has given me His grace, and has made me a Son of the Father…That is Christian joy.” “No one can take away your joy,” he said, which brings peace in “the saddest moments, in moments of sorrow.” Pope Francis concluded his homily, praying: “Lift us up, O Lord, to Christ seated at the right hand of the Father…raise our spirit. Take away our every fear, and grant us joy and peace.” There is absolutely nothing wrong with this speech, as what was written in the article. What was crazy or bizarre about it?? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69235475 Then why was the Charlie Hebdo 'attack' done on his "666th" day in office? Why was the Vatican's "Climate Change" conference done on his "777th" day in office? Who's behind the ritual? Who's causing the fear? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68341623 That hardly sounds like crazy talk. Try harder, dammit. I agree... Sounds more like a Pope who is actually trying to say what needs to be said... Yes, there are many reasons to worry. But if all we do is worry, then life has no meaning. We should all be able to find little joys in our life, whether it's when the dogs greet you when you walk in the door, or when your kid finally "gets" algebra, or when the tomatoes you planted start showing fruit, or when you know you've found your "one" Look I'm not a religitard... I don't know WHAT I do or don't believe... But I DO know that without joy and love all you have is fear and uncertainty....and that is no way to live, no matter what is taking place in the world... |

I am an atheist but he is right, if you believe in heaven and hell then death the ultimate fear should be something good if you believe you are going to heaven. |
