On one News station (can't remember which one) a couple days after this accident, was a story on how there was another train that had gone off the track, 13 cars of a cargo train on their side, only a few miles away about the same time.


I only saw that story once and then never again. Is that this third train?

Don't fall for this nonsense people. The first day it happened they didn't say anything about projectiles and certainly not the engineer either. And even if something hit the window how does that make the train speed up. Give me a break this is such nonsense. Fbi will conclude ISIS did it and now we need more security measures. That's the whole point.

HAZELWOOD (KDKA) – Cleanup is underway in Hazelwood after 13 cars jumped the train tracks in the Hazelwood area of Pittsburgh Thursday morning.
According to emergency dispatchers, the freight train derailed in the 4100-block of Second Avenue around 10 a.m.

If the train was in fact hit by a projectile it opens up the possibility that it was hit by more than one, and that some critical part suffered damage that may have left him unable to control the train. Damage that could have been written off as a result of the accident, but may actually have occurred prior to and not after the crash.

The hack theory also seems possible to me. The bottom line is I have not seen a single thing to indicate that this particular engineer would ever act so recklessly for no reason, which means something happened. He clearly had not simply fallen asleep, since he was heard speaking immediately prior to the accident.

Unfortunately for his defense, I think this also makes it impossible to claim he was knocked out as a result of a projectile weapon.. He was awake to relay the information that his train had been struck, so it would again have required multiple "projectiles" to open up that possibility. Moreover, his attempt to use the emergency brakes at the last second also seems to indicate consciousness. However, in my mind, the most likely reason one would reach for the emergency brakes would be because the normal breaks were not working and he realized the train was out of his control. When you are driving around town and see a car stop short in front of you, you don't automatically grab the emergency brake. That is a last resort that to me indicates extreme fear and a high level of awareness.

Obviously I could be wrong, but this is how the situation looks to me for the moment. I just hope his memory returns so that he can help to unravel the mystery. He was obviously very passionate about his job and was also disgusted by the careless lack of safety measures taken by the industry as a whole. Being caught up in a disaster like this must be this man's worst nightmare. On top of that, he can't even remember what happened - and no one even believes him. A dear friend of mine was in a car accident years ago and, to this day, still can not remember what happened. No other cars were involved, but it led to the death of his best friend. Having no memory of what happened is torture for him, and surely is for this man as well.

The engineer is a homo activist, so the MSM is going to bend over backwards to let him off the hook.

I think it has been established that he was traveling more than 100 miles per hour, which was twice the speed limit there. BTW, a projectile could be a missile fired by a terrorist, but it could also be a rock hurled at the train by a bunch of kids, which probably happens all the time.

But because the engineer is an outspoken homo, they are going to try and exonerate him, It really is despicable.

I have a feeling there is more to this than human error. Don't think a projectile would cause the train to speed unless the projectile was directed at destroying something mechanical that could cause a failure.

Just musing, as I know nothing about trains. Maybe someone who does know about this type of train could let us know if this could possible happen.

The speed is not "automatic" it's not like a Airbus where you dial in your intended speed. There is a throttle, you throttle up until you hit the speed you want and you leave the throttle there.

It's more like a large boat, you push the lever forward to speed up. Once you hit speed, you lock it in.
