on a normal day I wake up check the map and see PNG....Indonesia....Japan...Fiji...Vanatu...ect

but the map shows nothing in last 24 hours....hmmmm

As far as the West Coast goes, there have been over 100 quakes in the past 24 hours. They just arn't big ones.

I found a video of the crater wall collapse at Kilauea.

Hawaii is a precursor.

There was a large fissure eruption days before the Sendai quake.

Expect more large EQs if there is a dramatic change on the big island.

I'm looking for West Pacific and not seeing much on EMSC. However, they don't post the smaller quakes.

And Japan has taken their seismos off the web, so it's difficult to know.

I lived in northern California 35yrs. ago and I remember watching the clothes in my closet rock back and forth for a few seconds. My bed felt a little wobbly. But I wasn't scared at the time. Everyone expected "the big one" but I was young and unusually dumb at the time. Nothing phased me. So all of these little quakes are not new.

I don't blame you there. I had also planned a run to the store to stock up on more water this morning. Time to rotate!

This is the question I have, though I don't live anywhere near California anymore. We are always warned to have a "bug-out" bag and keep the car filled with gas. If there is an emergency, how are we to get out? The roads will be packed and there will be state cops everywhere. If you go on foot, where is anyone going to go? If you live in a city, it takes at least an hour or more to get out of the area by car, so how can anyone do it on foot? I know an earthquake is different than riots, etc. I think with the way things are going, even though these small quakes have always happened, I'd leave California. I live in Chicago and I worry about the New Madrid, but I can't find anything certain about where the Great Lakes will be effected or if they definitely will. These predictions can be very frustrating.

thats why I am already 2 hours ahead of the pack....wont be running from a eq I will be running from the pack of crazies...

I'm house/dog sitting for this guy on the Big Island right now. Before he left, he told me that when the roof goes 'ding..pink...clink...clack'...whatever, starts making noises, that it meant an earthquake was happening (metal corrugated roof on 2x6).

It's been happening so much the other day I thought...gee idkwtf this is, but it can't be that many earthquakes.

I guess I owe him a beer.
