Something unusual is about to happen in Colorado. | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47318971 Why would they stay off at night? Shouldn't they travel at night to avoid congestion? Stryker armored vehicles are big and heavy. It's always better to transport oversized loads and vehicles in daylight. Plus they're meant to be on a battle field. I'm sure they have two little wimpy headlights. This is weird. But really, we as tax payers should be thankful in some way. If they loaded up all those Strykers on C-17 cargo planes, the cost would be like 5 times a much as just the fuel for the convoy. -Everything's more awesome when you lean into it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 24369973 United States 05/20/2015 03:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just my 2 cents. But I think that with all the troop movement around the country and the exercises happening, it offers opportunity for FF attacks on our military by people(agent provocateurs) posing as patriots. What better way to condition our military to more easily take shots at fellow Americans, than to convince them and the public that "patriots" are trying to kill them. Again, just my 2 cents. |

Interstate Highways also connect to other roads that are a part of the Strategic Highway Network, a system of roads identified as critical to the U.S. Department of Defense. Found this article later.. Thoughts? Quoting: Manitou 69196712 [link to gazette.com] Brigade planners have labored for eight months to draw up convoy plans and work with local authorities along the route to blunt the impact on commuters. Officials in the counties along the route have offered to ease the way for the Army rigs and usher them through areas that might become congested. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 69164630 United States 05/20/2015 03:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Strykers, though, are built for pavement. The eight-wheeled rigs have four-wheel steering and behave like heavily armored motor homes on the open road. The Strykers weigh in at an interstate-friendly 18 tons, about half of a loaded 18-wheeler. That's why the Army bought its first Strykers in 1999 - the lighter rigs can be quickly flown or driven to war. |

Maybe we should be asking, why we don't see military convoys a lot more often across the Nation? Eisenhower built the Interstate Highway System because back in the early 1950 America's highways were nothing but dirt roads. he was impressed with Hitler's "autoBahn", and he sold the idea to Congress as a "National Security Project". (and Eisenhower is a "favorite son" in Colorado because he spent a lot of time at Fitzimmon's Hospital. . |

Sometimes these convoys go on for miles. I travel back and forth for work down south almost daily. It is not uncommon to see these huge convoys. I am interested none the less to see how this gets spun on here. There really isnt that much in that part of colorado except for terrain that is ideal for the type of training and manuevers these soldiers need in other places outside the U.S. I just finished a contract out at petersons afb and one of my employees was on this conspiracy crap. He was freaked out by the amount of jets and cargo planes constantly taking off and landing. I worked there a year ago too as well. It was the same shit with all the planes. Business as usual as far as I can tell. Dont bite my head off but I think its just more of the same but biiger then normal. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69281970 All these heavy vehicles are sure to damage the roads ! Mark my words ! Are you kidding me?, Most our roads are f'd up anyway from all this weather. All these big ass potholes everywhere its like driving in a third world country. The interstate is no exception. I feel sorry for them soldiers that got to be in that part of Colorado anyway. We are almost in June and it rained and snowed out that way all last weekend. Im sure most these soldiers dont care for this shit either. It is always windy out that way and that is probably the shittiest part of the state. There is nothing out that way worth visiting. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 17385372 United States 05/20/2015 04:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When I was traveling to Colorado, I saw four convoys of about 20+ military vehicles traveling north on I-70 in Wyoming, just north of the Colorado border. I can't be sure, but looked like National Guard, to me. May 7th was the date. Related mayhaps?
