That's what I was thinking too.
Water meeting molten magma = steam.
There is always a steam release before a volcanic eruption!

At this point I don't know what to think. All we have is the data we have. Non of us live there at Lake Mead so we can not verify the drop in water level.
However, if it is true that the water level of Lake Mead has dropped almost 8 feet in 2 days.... then it stands to reason that the water level is dropping hard and fast at this exact moment.
It looks like the water level drop is increasing really fast!
On Friday the drop was about 20 inches
On Saturday the drop was 76 inches
Logic tells us the rate of the water level drop is increasing!
On Sunday (today) the drop will be 100+ inches?????

I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Maybe that was a poor choice of words.

So they've changed the figures to hide the drop in water level.

Well... either that or it was erroneous for some reason, which doesn't make much sense to me.

First of all, consider the quakes.
Second, they probably use multiple depth sensors which are mostly likely pretty simple pieces of equipment.

What are the odds of sensors failing or data suddenly being processed incorrectly at the same time as earthquakes are increasing, plumes are seen, etc?

Based on what I know, common sense tells me they're doing situation management.

This is big.... As he said check LV review journal. Water main break and roadway collapse before 5:20 AM. That's less than 24 hrs after the quake...

Nothing extraordinary.

Inflow to Lake Powell has been significantly increasing though. 4x the lows from a month before, but probably all the snow melt.

Yeah I also wouldn't imagine they would pump water from ~1000 ft above sea level to ~3000 ft at over 200mi distance.

Yeah sounds like there was an error in the Lake Mead elevation.

Yup.

The way I see it.... we will know much better by midnight tonight (PST) because that is when today's water level data is released.

If the water is falling out through the bottom of the reservoir near the dam itself, it could seriously affect the foundation of the dam, unless it is situated on bedrock.
