On Sunday we received about 2 (MORE) inches of rain from John down in Phoenix AZ with more in some of the outlying areas. Cars were stuck in washes as gullies filled in minutes from the intense rainfall. Yesterday I could see the line of clouds depicted in the link above just south of the valley stretching across the southeast horizon. Cool moist gusty winds were prevelant all day creating a most unusual weather scenario. It has been sooo wet this summer in Arizona that its seems tropical rather than an desert. A couple of my cactus's got so tanked up on water that they could not support themselves anymore with the weight of the water and just fell over...a very different summer here indeed...oh ya ....some very intense lightning .... the night of 6,000 lightnig strikes comes to mind.

Too many implications as to who would be "in charge" of those decisions. Wasn't hurricane John suppose to move out into the Pacific a week ago? I remember seeing storm tracks taking it toward Hawaii. Sure seemed odd it changed it's whole "plan".
