Earth in 2500 AD
A few interesting things about our future:

- On a universal scale we are barely newborns as a species.

- The odds of human extinction in our lifetime is less than 1%.

- The odds of human extinction in the next 500 years is less than 2%.

- The chance humanity will reach 2500 AD is 99+%.

- Technologically, humans in 2500 AD will a million times more advanced than we are today. In other words, more advanced than we are today compared to humans 10,000 years ago.

- Don't fear the future, embrace it. We are no where close to living in the'end-times'.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52334253

A full-out nuclear war will never happen. Yes, there is a chance some fringe group could detonate a nuclear weapon but we will never see the destruction of our species due to nuclear war.

Nuclear weapons are fear based weaponry. I don't have a lot of faith in government but even they are not stupid enough to start off a war that you can never win.

Nuclear weapons are strictly fear-based and will never be used en masse.

Naïve, huh?

I remember naivety. Kind of miss it.

Good luck with all that.

We are on the verge of publicly disclosing hydrogen fusion reactors.
Our computer technology in 50-100 years will be such that every person can access anything anywhere with just a thought. ... And yes the reverse is also true.
Nanotechnology will create revolutionary change in health, medicine ( longevity) material science, food ,environmental benefits and manufacturing of anything.
Space will become THE industrial mining target for all nations.

We on earth will be entering a " post scarcity economy".

Many if not most people will be unemployed. But they will not need income to survive or thrive.

Economics are based off of scarcity. Gold is rare so it has value. A latte is exchanged for money etc. What happens when nothing is scarce?
Bills 3d nano printer can make a 3d nano printer for John.
The nannites can produce food from the soul by extracting carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus etc.

Physical labor is already a dieing job. When robotics do all functions from surgery to street sweeping what is left for people to do?
More to the point, what motivates people to do anything?

Social and philosophical questions, but a certain percentage will continue to learn more and do more.
The technology of today and yesterday are the result of a few people you read about in history books. The future will be the same.

You state that we are at an idiocracy.
I believe we have always been that way. With a few exceptional people who prove the rule.

Life will not be that different, we will still have cars prob they can hover/fly but we will still have traffic and will not replace cars and planes and ships, they will never invent teleportation because it is impossible. Robots will do a lot of the factory jobs but will still need humans. Poverty will increase, we wont be able to invent a machine that creates food

No I am not a nut job.
We already have created machines that make food.
Poverty will not increase, it will not exist.
The needs to transport self will decrease. No job to go so traffic will decrease. Most distant interaction will be vr instead of actually going.

In 112 years since the first powered airplane flew we went from a max distance of a few hundred feet to now. We went to the moon 66 years after the Wright Brothers.
Your iphone has more capability than Nasa had that same year.
Whale blubber, coal, gas, nuclear power to the next step in two hundred years.
Think about 500 years from today.
