Good times! I was '67 era, nothing that fast then, 13's would have been really fast then. My neighbor has a 66 Chevelle 375 with Caslers and headers and ran 13.20/108 at Lions. He took me for a ride and I (oppsss.. i mean Billy) couldn't believe how fast that car was (12th grade, Granada Hills High) Last Edited by DGN on 05/28/2015 12:36 AM |

He took me for a ride and I (oppsss.. i mean Billy) couldn't believe how fast that car was (12th grade, Granada Hills High) By '70 people were trailering acid dipped tube chassised Novas, 'Stangs, Dusters and what not to the back side of the block and offloading the cars just to run them through and pick up a race- high stakes liars poker for gearheads with no hoods lifted Take your best guess and make a wager then do the thing or not. Guys used to come up from Whittier and Terminal Island to see if they could hoodwink a local boy out of his ride and sure enough sometimes they did. People would get shot plating those games nowdays but back then it was fist fights at worst. All great fun until the cops started opening the fire hydrants and flooding the Blvd which kinda put the lid on things. |
