The Demon Cat (or D.C.) from Capitol's basement
Demon Cat (or D.C.) is the name given to the ghost of a cat which is purported to haunt the government buildings of Washington, D.C..

The story of the Demon Cat dates back to the days when cats were brought into the basement tunnels of the Capitol buildings to kill rats. Legend states that the Demon Cat is one who never left. Its home is supposedly the basement crypt of the Capitol which was originally intended as a burial chamber for President George Washington.

According to legend, the cat is seen before presidential elections and tragedies in Washington DC, allegedly being spotted by White House security guards the nights before the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln. The cat is described as fully black and the size of an average house cat; but witnesses report that the cat swells to "the size of a giant tiger", 10 feet by 10 feet, when alerted. The cat would then either explode or pounce at the witness, disappearing before it managed to catch its 'victim'.

In the 1890s the cat is said to have inexplicably vanished when some Capitol Hill guards fired at it, and another supposedly died of a heart attack after seeing it.

The last official sighting of the black cat was in the 1940s.

Re: The Demon Cat (or D.C.) from Capitol's basement
I work with a man who, outside some congressional buildings, claims to have seen a black cat that looked like a kitten then grew to an adult cat. The cat cried like it was hurt. He followed the cat to the back of a congressional building, and it ran off from sight. The next thing my co-worker knew he was grabbed by two Capitol policemen for getting too close to a congressional building while Congress was in session. He swore up and down he was looking for an injured cat. No one else saw it. That’s my first hand account of the Demon Cat.

Re: The Demon Cat (or D.C.) from Capitol's basement
THis is second hand info..so, take it for what's its worth...but

I had a friend in high school who right after graduation went to tour DC area. For some reason; they were a bit obsessed with DC why I don't know. The story is from the late 1980s and there was not as much guards around and gun check stations at this time period.

The story goes ; as the friend was taking a tour of the lower areas of the capital ; they had to go to the rest room.

There was a restroom down a dark end of a hallway. THey left the tour group to go into this restroom.

While my friend was in there, they began to hear some strange things ; Pipes making noises and such all along the ceiling. Then, the noise became pounding all over the bathroom ceiling.

The friend began to freak out and make an attempt to leave the restroom very fast ....when all the sudden they saw a big black mean looking cat blocking the door of the restroom!!!

They literally had to take a running jump over the cat to get the heck out of the restroom as the cat was hissing and trying to grab at the friends leg...

After they jumped out of the restroom; they turned to look back at the cat and the cat was no longer there....

This thread caused me to remember my friends story...

Looks like some of its relatives went to N.Y.

Thread: Mysterious Big Black Cat Sightings in NY Suburb
Apr 2, 2009 1:29 pm US/Eastern

Mysterious big black cats are scaring residents of Rockland County, N.Y. Wildlife experts aren't sure what they are, or how they got there.

Halloween is long gone. So what's up with the black cat
sightings near New York's Tallman Mountain State Park?

Signs posted around the Rockland County park warn the public about "Suspicious Animal Sightings."

Other sightings were reported in the hamlet of Palisades. One was in a driveway. Two were in a backyard.

These are described as sleek, long-tailed, black felines. They're larger than mid-size dogs.

No regional zoos, veterinarians or residents have reported a missing large cat.

Uh Huh! See ya 'round. Hahahahaha
Covid Jab Experiment - I'm in the control group.

The reason the left wants you disarmed is because they plan to do things to you that you would shoot them for.

To a cat, "No" just means to try again later.

Silver kills disease organisms and also cures banksteritis.
