BREAKING - 6.0 off the coast of Oregon!

I live in the country about 20 miles west of Portland. Really bizarre weather last night at about 2am. Couldn't sleep all night, and at about 3am the weather went from super warm to a crazy windstorm with lightning off in the distance, in the span of about 10 minutes.

Incorrect.






This earthquake was centered north of the Blanco Trench along the Blanco Fracture Zone.

It is the MENDOCINO Fracture Zone off the coast of Eureka California, that directly connects into the San Andrea's Fault.

The two are several hundred miles apart!

In fact, this earthquake is centered nearly 450 miles north west of the Mendocino connection into the San Andreas.

this isn't the right thread for this but...
yes german is difficult to learn but doable imagine you had to learn russian or greek... adjusting to other writing etc... you will find that german similarities to english.

i am a turkish fellow and learned it and now i speak fluently -i mean it! just as i have learned english.
it is actually a matter of adaption and openness :)

how i did it: watch a lot of movies in german, sing in german, make german friends who do not speak english.

Believe it or not, but there is actually a Pattern since at least the last 24 hours.

A lot of 4.0+ yesterday. Today 5.0+

Tomorrow at least 6.0+ and Potentially 7.0+(Full moon)?

If the cascading subduction zone goes off it would be more damaging than San Andreas.

Off the coast of Oregon has been happening since... FOREVER. I've lived here in Coos Bay for over 20 years, and never felt even the slightest tremor. But like I said, there are sea quakes all the time. It's not news.

So how realistically big can a San Andreas earthquake be? 9.8?

So using USGS's advanced search I checked for the number of 5.0+ magnitude quakes off the coast of Oregon from the past 5 years. There were 18. In 5 years. That's a frequency of about once every three months. Today there have been 3 within about 13 hours. That's newsworthy IMO.
