Will push professionally to do the same when WinX becomes "pay-to-play" I honestly doubt this will happen, especially considering lots of computers aren't constantly connected to the internet.  |

Surely, you'd think if a person upgrades to 10 that they'd let you go back to 8 if you don't want to pay. They can't just shut you down, can they?! sure you can. but they are eventually going to stop support for anything but 10. 10 is going to be the LAST windows operating system release. and i'm pretty sure it will become subscription based like they did with office360. when they stop support for windows 7 i'm going to fully switch over to linux. Linux is crap.... never works. |

You won't need to pay again although I suspect additional items in the future will be pay per year probably around $10/year. But as for the upgrade its free for the lifetime of the product however long that is. and its not free on pirated versions no matter whatever the "experts" here state. |

No the timing worked out that they had an 800 series for mobile devices like laptops, but was still far enough away from their flagship model for desktop, so they skipped the 8 series for the desktop and went straight to the 9 series. And to the guy saying 5 years to make an OS... Mac puts out a new OS almost every year. |
