[link to www.alpkit.com (secure)] Theres a bigger one as well but twice the weight and not twice the shine. I think. If you are going super minimal from your post, they have a fully waterproof rucksack as well. Fully waterproof no matter what and you could just line it with a bin liner for extra. They do bigger sizes too but I wouldnt rely on it being ultra comfy under too much weight. [link to www.alpkit.com (secure)] If you want a small water resistant bag that you can use as a dry bag inside your pack and also so you can leave your pack somewhere and use the small pack as a day wander pack then id recommend a sea to summit ultra sil day pack. I wish I could buy you some gear but as it stands im eating rice and spice. |

If you don't live in a rural area-move. "All that is necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing." Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21245244 You deserve to die if you can't think of anything better than paying the Big Bucks for packages of horrible overpriced Mountain House shit. Yeah, I'm not looking to survive in a hole in the ground till the radiation dies down or anything. Just want some tips on how to make a night, few nights or couple of weeks in the "woods" more comfortable. Yes, I know it will likely never happen but most of this stuff I can use anyway. Portable stove I can use when i'm fishing, as with the knife, torch, warm clothes and so on. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69297774 United Kingdom 06/03/2015 02:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Im not to sure about lighting but some alpkit stuff is good. The glowe lantern is light enough to carry as a lantern and also a torch that uses the same batteries whether you can recharge them? They also do a bivvy sack in xl which would offer water resistence to you, your bag and mat in emergencies or under a sheet. Multimat have a good non inflatable sleeping mat that will keep you warm from the ground up, without puncturing. Theres a ultra light one and an expedition one. You would need a synthetic sleeping bag as well. 0c maybe wide cut so you can sleep in clothes. Primaloft gold is the best synthetic insulation right now in comparison to down warmth. iv only seen phd designs experiment with it in a bag not just in jackets, where as others are all about profit I suppose. They could make you a 0c wide cut. ultrashell fabric with 200g primaloft gold at 1100g which would be the lightest possible way to make it featuring the above criteria. Montane give you primaloft eco. Others have there own blends but primaloft gold is the standard for warmth in wet conditions. Any bag would be good in emergency but phd could put you together the best 0c bag using the best avalible insulations and fabrics that companies have produced to date. Could last maybe around 5 years with constant compression but is like warm air. Obviously with insulation to loft up the fabric design cut plays key role. If you ever decided to get a synthetic bag rather than down for camping and extended sleeping trips without worrying about moisture there arnt that many true 0c bags and even though phd might cost a bit more than the best avalible. You would be getting much better value provided you were to use it. just saying. |

A fleece midlayer. and a something with 100g primaloft like a rab generator jacket and a mulitimat. You can get all this second hand. Iv slept on the beach homeless in march with this [link to www.leisureoutlet.com] with a rab generator vest and was fine. Although reading reviews a camper said they were freezing in the field. They do a 1000 version but maybe the starlight is better or something similar. Id recommend a synthetic though even though it will weigh more than down feather. |

A mat does not belong in your BoB, WHICH YOU ARE GOING TO PACK OUT ON YOUR BACK. You have to constantly consider weight and volume. Leaves and cardboard boxes and various things you come across will suit the purpose. |
