Quoting: PatriotSurge Then, the thought hit: What if they instead, found the awesome Tarantino film "Inglorious Basterds" and took it to be an historical documentary? :-) What other movies would completely misinform those researching our history? They might have some very disasterous things to say about 2012 and so on... Quoting: PatriotSurge Then, the thought hit: What if they instead, found the awesome Tarantino film "Inglorious Basterds" and took it to be an historical documentary? :-) What other movies would completely misinform those researching our history? Shindler's List let me first start by saying I LOVE SCHINDLERS LIST. secondly i also love history, and when i find a movie purportedly about history that i love, i will often do the research behind the movie to figure out what is fact and what is fiction. SCHINLDERS LIST was real. if you do your own research and read the WIKI on Oskar Schindler you would know that he grew up in Austria just like Hitler but unlike Hitler had a neighbor when he was a boy who was Jewish who would become his best friend until the round ups began. i think that this was the catalyst that drove Oskar to save as many as he did from almost certain death. Helen Hirsch's character was real though the events which unfolded in the film with ralph fiennes character the commandant of the camp (i honestly for got his name ) as Oskar told her that he loved her but it was forbidden, was NOT TRUE. i beleive this to have been added for dramatic affect as well as to add some humanity to a rather brutal character that did horrific things throught the film. but i assure you, that everyone that left the camp at the end of the movie - actually left the liberated camp in 1945 to resume what was left of their lives. infact when Oskar Schindler died they petitioned a jewish synogogue in jeruselem to have him buried there among their people. while he was not jewish his body was denied interment but he has a marker and a tree planted in the avenue of the righteous where after the credits you can see the real people, the ones that were still alive at filming place a stone on his marker and escorted by their character actors/ actresses. i thought it was absolutely beautiful that a simple man could save so many in a world of brutality and face certain death for doing so if he were caught. only love could do that. |

Supertzar Breshears is Off: Ask Me Why User ID: 65955727 United States 06/20/2015 10:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also love Schindler's List. I do. Every once in a great while you get a movie that totally captures the core essence of an Archetypal story, of which "The Holocaust" is such a story. Whether or not the Holocaust is "True" is almost unimportant when considering the film on it's own merits. The important thing is a lasso was thrown out trying to capture an Archetype, a slice of a greater cosmic idea, and it succeeds in a masterful way. Other such films Apocalypto The Passion of the Christ The Godfather Rocky Close Encounters of the Third Kind American Graffiti Titanic M*A*S*H* Saving Private Ryan Lincoln Etc.
