With the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling this Friday legalizing same sex marriage in all 50 states, social liberalism has achieved one of its central goals. A right seemingly unthinkable two decades ago has now been broadly applied to a whole new class of citizens. Do it. Legalize any marital institution that is betwixt and between consenting adults. Utah already got nailed... I mean, in current polygamous marriages, only the first marriage license was valid, second and subsequent wives were/are not married through civil authorities but rather had 'spiritual marriages' recognized through their church and, presumably, their gawd. Utah persisted in prosecuting family's for 'cohabitation' if they even called themselves married to multiple people, while people who weren't cohabitating and referring to themselves as married were and are left alone. The court ruled that the state could ban multiple marriage licenses but couldn't persecute people for living together, even if it's one man and 5 women or whatever. The State of Utah is going to appeal, perhaps they've already filed. Kind of like they did in the gay marriage debacle, and we all know how that turned out. In all actuality, if Utah appeals is might end up being a victory for polygamists all over the nation. Especially in the wake of this recent decision, with a precedent having been set for marriage being a fundamental right. If it's a fundamental right for two men, why would it not be for a woman who only wants to be in a relationship with a man and 3 other women?
