I went to my mostly white church this morning. They are in an upscale town and they are just saying that we need to focus on Jesus Christ and on converting the lost. That we need to engage the homosexuals.

I think a lot of people were disappointed. I was. The persecution is coming and we are not making preparations for how we are going to handle it. People are looking to Lord Jesus' Kingdom and side stepping the fact that they are probably going to lose their tax exempt status and this after the preacher has already told us that we aren't making enough just to pay him. Church was full and this was the opportunity to speak, but we were reminded that homosexuality is no worse sin than any that we commit-which while true, none of us want to destroy that church.

They are still going on the Haiti trip because we are supposed to be supporting singlehandedly this orphanage in Haiti-nevermind that they did this twice before and got scammed both times. We are doing it again.

But, they are talking about buying a big parcel of land and building a new church building because they don't think the one they have is big enough. So, typical stuff.

The whites can't deal with what is coming. It's good to see that the black pastors are more aware and aren't burying their heads in the sand.

It only takes one homosexual couple bent on destroying a church to make real trouble.

I know. I had stayed out of church for a while. This church is my home church from when I was a child, but it is run by different people. They were trying to shame us for telling people that God's Judgment is going to fall on this country. They literally said that we shouldn't be telling people that. I just sat there agasp. I'm like, now we are supposed to be showing love, I understand that, but the enemies of Christ-How did Christ deal with them? He didn't try to convert the scribes and the pharisees. He spoke in parables so that they wouldn't be able to understand and they wouldn't be able to come to the truth.

I speak plainly. If you are too nice-you run the risk of being in the enemies camp in no time. What distinction is there between those of God and those of this world? Yes, we should try to be nice, but there is a time and a place to speak the truth and to stand for the truth.

- News events in support of mega-government are created to induce a public reaction. If you react on cue and predictably, then you are like a puppet. Don't be a puppet.

- New or old world order, you are an economic creature that creates goods/services, and expects to be paid in some way. Preserve your economic independence, as a first step in guaranteeing your political independence.

I trust nothing that the lying news media and the lying govt say, but I do pay attention to what they say. Both the news and the govt are my enemy. The govt has told me that very thing many times.

Disobeying yourself and your own life goals? It is important for a religious person to stick with their values and that government isn't to force anybody through it. Consider the past government of the Christians, where Christians would have believed it a strength to be martyred under Roman rules. I'm remembering Origen's letters to his dad when he was a kid when his housekeeper hid his street clothes by orders of his mom so he wouldn't go outside and get into trouble with the bigger guys. So, you have to have what you believe in, and comprehend the politics of the land outside your house. That's why the Church visited one another at home back then.

It's clergy's right to deny service according to belief. I've been denied before by clergy, couple times. They just didn't want to, they reserve the right to refuse service to anybody they want. It's their life; if they don't want government to force them to bless relationships, that's their right, not the government's.

I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but...uh...feels like I'm stating the obvious here...as these are pastors, they won't be required to marry any gay couples. It is even more likely they won't be asked. (No, the constitutionality of two consenting adults of the same sex getting a marriage license and having the JOTP perform the civil ceremony has o bearing on any religious group refusing to marry them. A pastor, priest, or whatever can totally refuse to marry you for any religious reason. Just ask any divorced Catholic).

The response directly above from a religionist is a typical fear-driven rejoinder when presented with a reasoned comment. The black pastors shouldn't forget that it was only two or three generations ago that most Americans didn't try to protect the civil rights of a black person to vote, to live anywhere they could afford to live, to marry a white person, to sit at the front of a bus, to eat at a whites only cafeteria, or use a white restroom. And now how ironic and sad that these black pastors seek to abridge the civil rights of gays, who are just another minority.
