"Every family should be prepared for a national emergency" Maybe they know exactly what is coming? It seems as though the government and agencies are prepared, and preparing for something major. Maybe this is it? $18 trillion in debt, $190 trillion in unfunded liabilities, foreign economies faltering, defaulting etc. If what is described in the OP happens, how the hell can anyone be prepared for that? |

As with other places, the younger generations didn't want this and migrated to the mainland (or got out altogether), but now many are leaving the cities and going 'home'. |

Having said that here in nepal there is a healthy barter system already in place in the form of land owners going 50/50 with workers where the worker does all the work on the land and shares the profits or crop 50/50. Its very common here and gives the non land owners a chance of earning some good money etc whithout the big outlay for land, they often live on the land also. |
