I pretty much literally freeze and cannot start a conversation unless I am extremely comfortable with someone. I think part of it is because it seems so fake and phoney. I agree completely. I hate being fake, I wear my heart on my sleeve. It just seems like you have to follow a formula. It is preventing me from getting a job in a professional environment it's so bad. What kind of professional environment? I am a very quiet person, shy, etc., but I was able to do things like present my thesis, go through job interviews, etc. If I were a person doing the hiring, I'd be much more drawn to someone who seemed genuine. All you can do is be yourself. An office for instance. There aren't many jobs besides fast food and carryout around here. Oh, and gas stations. Each require me to be quite social. I try to be myself, and I feel better for doing it. It will benefit me one day. By the way, thank you. And thank the rest of you also. |

I don't go to the Dr. anymore because I am a "high risk patient" and can't get the meds I need. I've tried so many Drs. and its always the same. So I gave up on it and at this point I'm just trucking it through. I just got out of a 3 year relationship also, so I don't know if that subconsciously is bothering me or not but it certainly isn't constantly. I suppose that's a very boiled down version. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy and I wont help you dwell on it either. If you want to take your mind off it, there's a lot of options on this site:-) What amuses or interests you? I've been reading a book, and one of the things the author said is that whatever your real passion is...someway, somehow, you can turn it into a living. You just have to figure out what that is. |

I'm mostly in to nature photography and music. But we all have our vices, and it's easy for me to alienate myself. Hence this thread.
