Re: Disappearing spoons?
Take from this what you will...

I know several people who were sexually abused as children. I remember one of them telling me how she would take teaspoons and dig up dirt in the back yard, leave the spoon there and sometime later dig it up and bring it back in the house. Many years later she went back to the house with her therapist. I kid you not - the new owner asked what was up with all the cutlery in the backyard they'd find when gardening and when they dug for a patio.

I discussed it with another friend with similar experience and she instinctively understood it although didn't know why...

In her little brain, not being able to tell her parents what was happening, this worked as a pacifying coping mechanism.

Not saying your spoons and forks are tied to sexual abuse but it's possible they represent something that someone can't talk about? After all they're like tiny little shovels and picks that bury "stuff"

might be nutty but usually the deepest truths are a little strange.
Life is a spiritual war and no matter where we lay our head, we live in a warzone.

There will be casualties.

You do get to choose your side. I chose the Bright Side where my God fights for me.

Others chose the Dark Side and fight for an entity that views them with disdain and discards them.

Re: Disappearing spoons?
If you have kids they are taking the spoons and forks in their bedrooms or in their bag lunch or off to a friend's with a yogurt (or whatever) and on the go. Then if you're lucky, they don't end up throwing them away. They're just in a heap somewhere in their room or under their car seats. When they get around to cleaning they bring them down to the kitchen for YOU to wash because they can't be bothered to do it themselves.

They end up behind and under furniture too because the kids eat in the family room and when finished they put their dishes and utensils on the floor. Then they start playing with the dog or whatever and a fork or a spoon ends up under the couch. They start doing this by second or third grade (except for the car), some even earlier I would guess.

My brothers and I did this growing up, and my mom stopped buying silverware. We complained about not having enough in the drawer, and she said that would change if we start putting them in the kitchen right after we are done with them.

Or....You are schizophrenic.

Or....You have someone in your household that is truly messing with you.

Re: Disappearing spoons?
OP, Someone is eating in their bedroom, then too lazy to bring the spoons to the kitchen. They store the spoons in a draw or under the bed, then a month or two later, they bring all the crap back to the kitchen.

Let me guess, you have teenagers that eat in their room?
