another problem is that purely rational belief systems don't have deep psychological hooks and most ppl really don't have much ability to reason

The funny thing about that song is it requests another thing of us: to imagine a world without nations or countries.

Funny thing about this video, is that while it claims all the atrocities committed were by atheists, they were also committed by strict nationalists.

In short, I am not missing the message of the video, but the video's creator is missing the message of "Imagine."

You missed the point: belief is belief in afterlife retribution of your deeds, while non-belief is belief it do what you want and take what you like because your deeds will have no consequence after death. That's why atheists have no problem committing widespread lawlessness, atrocities and mass killings. You don't have to be too smart to understand that.

I remember when that song first came out feeling somewhat disturbed but being caught up in the anti-Vietnam war sentiment, the subliminal, yet not so subliminal message wasn't as clear to me then, as it was, later.

Deception is such a funny thing, which of course is why it's called "deception."

I wish to go on record as saying:

If we are not at least spiritual then we are NOTHING!

Spirituality conceptualizes a creator..... not defining any aspect of gender or religion, but a definition of our origin.

We each seed the ideas that feed our existence. Have you considered what it means to be alive? WE ARE NOT PHYSICAL! We are spiritual living out this temporary journey. Don't be misled to think there is no persistence when we pass from the physical to the spiritual.

Why are there so many religions? Because human perception is faulty, because there is a lack of INsight.

Be what you are, but only after you have taken a journey to the depths of your consciousness. That is where you will find an image of GOD! Yes, read carefully..... an image..... NOT GOD in the literal.

Of course these are MY perceptions and NOT to be considered as absolute. You must find the way on your own.

Imagine this...... The person you see next is a piece of you and you are a piece of them. How would you like to treat yourself?? I realize some of you are filled with self hatred, but this is not about you. You have been blinded by your lack of introspection.
