TheOracle'sCookie User ID: 69607209 United States 06/30/2015 10:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Really good point about the water in a microwave. I don't have a link for the article, but I did read how some kids did a science experiment for their class. They microwaved water that was to water some little bean sprouts...the control group got normal water and normal sun--they did just fine. But little bean sprouts that got the microwave water died. The microwave apparently destroys certain bonds in molecular structures. And...who knows while those molecular structures are being broken down by the waves, what OTHER COMPOUNDS are setting up in the food because there is a chemical reaction. It could actually intensify the affects of such things as the asparatame sweeteners that about 7,000 U.S. food products contain. It's bad enough WITHOUT heating it...who knows what happens in combination with other chemicals that have never been studied. You pay a price for convenience. We got rid of our microwave a year ago and have been cooking everything the conventional way. It takes longer, but the food tastes better, we don't eat any TV dinners, now and we feel much better. I'd say get rid of them! O'sCookie "Know ONE thing absolutely...and you will UNDERSTAND everything. Walt Whitman "Leaves of Grass" "...Buckle up buttercups cuz this shit is going to go biblical." Immediately stopped boiling water with the microwave. Boil it on the stove now - even though it takes 20 times longer... The way I understand it, it "changes the molecular structure" of the item (be it water or any food). If water will change THAT much (that it isn't even any good to feed a plant), imagine what microwaving food is doing inside a human body??? Some people will believe anything. It’s a simple experiment, try it. I did. Stop being so gullible. :) |

Myself, I don't think it's a healthy way to cook but I'm no expert. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3890078 A few years ago I was all about the microwave- you can make a cupcake, an omelet, noodles or rice...the possibilities were endless for a single college student! Now, I use my microwave maybe once a month, usually to defrost meat. I found that it doesn't take that much longer on a stovetop and it DOES taste better- whether it's because the food flavors meld together better or if it's just the acts of preparing the items and watching them come together. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3890078 Since the microwave has gone mainstream people are turning into gays and I wonder if eating microwaved food makes you gay. Before the microwave you simply didn't see them. Banning microwaves might save humanity. Do NOT microwave in plastic containers Eating plastic may be the problem with microwaving I'vs seen people at work "just warm up" a cup of coffee - in a STYROFOAM cup for a few seconds in the microwave! And LOTS of people heat things for MINUTES in plastic containers and take out type containers Phytoestrogens can be from plastics "What are you helping with all this helping?" Buddhist saying |

I have no problem eating something cold instead of using a microwave at work. Last Edited by SoaringHawk on 01/05/2017 01:15 PM Uncle doom is the best kind of doom |
