If that offends you, I won't say I'm sorry. "My home's in Alabama...Southern born and Southern bred." If you put a candy wrapper on poison and give it to the sheep, they will eat it with a smile on their faces. |

I suppose I'll be there one day, sooner than later I'm sure, but you should probably get a streaming music service and introduce yourself to new music. Just because you haven't heard them yet, doesn't mean they're aren't some epic bands playing great music. FYI...there is a sale on just for men hair dye, 2 for one at Walmart, you're welcome. |

And I ain't that old (32) but I am a musician and have the ability to discern great music. There are other great bands besides Zep or Floyd but NOTHING from the last 2-3 decades for sure! It's pretty obvious when you consider that there aren't any modern day bands with "staying power" except for say Dave Matthews Band..? Pathetic! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 35889787 Romania 07/02/2015 08:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have to agree. Death metal and stuff is simply for retarded people. actually any repeating rhythm pattern is for retarded people. there is a very important connection between rhythmic patterns and brain. most of this days dub step for instance is pure garbage compared to Asian Dub Fundation let's say. I don't think there's anything better in rap than Wu-tang in the last 20 years and so on. Maybe eminem had some sparks...Music is pure garbage today. like, real shit jesus fucking christ. some happy accidents like The Roots, Gnarls Barkley or Reggie Watts. the 90's were the last breaths of music, with the Crows, and Moby and Faboy Slim, Radiohead had they'r fun than also. But that's all i ca think about. Please all of you, if you know something worth listening done in the last 15 years... let me know. thank you |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69105810 United States 07/02/2015 08:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Older rock aficionados tend to focus more on musicianship, whereas the younger seem to focus more on image and product. If you look at total body of work, the musicianship involved and then try to compare bands like Tool and Smashing Pumpkins to Zeppelin and Floyd its kind of laughable. John Paul Jones of Zeppelin was a classically trained pianist and Page was a journeyman session player who could also mix, arrange and do most all of the studio work. Both could read music which was and still is very rare for rock musicians of any era. There is simply no comparison. No other band has EVER pushed the limits of rock in so many different directions as Zeppelin. Not even close. An the spontaneous unrehearsed improvisations they did during live shows without missing a beat cannot be touched by any rock band past or present. You have to be a musician to fully understand and appreciate the complexity and difficulty of what they did. Floyd could play for 45 minutes and hold an audience while not singing a single lyric. 45 minutes of continuous play now would have younger fans looking for the exits. Musically, I would put Rush up there with them with the caveat that Rush has been performing the exact same shows, playing their songs exactly as arranged on the original albums for 40 years. Thus, their music has never evolved with them. Their biggest drawback, IMO. |

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |
