The US is mainly invested in Airforce strike groups, which were designed in the 1970's. Here is a comparison of that force application today, absent the propaganda. Russia, which supplies China with aircraft engines and new avionics, as previously posted, is looking to mass produce an effective plane w/ 5th generation capabilities, and at lower costs. The Russians even provide visual confirmation of this below. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67658114 Russian Army to Receive Sukhoi Su-35S Fighter Jet in 2015 The Sukhoi Su-35S, also known as Flanker E, is a single-seat twin-engine and highly-maneuverable multirole aircraft. Su-35S is Russia’s latest version of its famous predecessor Su-27. The jet is considered to be a 4++ generation jet and its export price is about $85 million, RT reports. The Su-35S has a new avionics suite that can effectively rival with any fifth-generation jet, with the proven reliability of the fourth-generation frame, Business Insider said. sputnik_spam/military/20150203/1017700161.html [link to rbth.co.uk] 2013. China stole the F35 stealth but did not make a compromised fighter The J-31 does not have a lift fan or even a space for a lift fan. This allowed Chinese engineers to optimize the new plane for speed, acceleration, maneuverability and flying range — and to add good pilot visibility and a second rearward engine — instead of having to build the plane around a pretty much useless vertical-takeoff capability that slows it down, limits it to one motor and blocks the pilot’s view. The F35 fighter is the aerodynamic equivalent of a lobbed brick, totally outclassed by the latest Russian- and Chinese-made jets. The F35 has failed in a 2008 RAND battle simulation. Beware the GREAT WHITES....and all other dangers when you get your arse kicked. ROFL. Fukkin joke. They've got boats and planes, so they don't have to swim! Plus we let billions of Chinese into Australia every day! All they need is enough to buy an education and a house and the unnamed useless ones in Canberra will give them citizenship! Besides we can all just hide in Alice Springs if anyone invades! Empty the petrol stations and you have to hoof it across deserts with spiders bigger than couches running around. Then there's snakes more venomous than undercooked African food and wildlife in the only cool water around that eats cows let alone people! I wouldn't want to invade Australia, if you leave the tourist traps where we sell rich Asians cute little stuffed toys. There's a lot heat and humidity and just general unpleasantness and then there's the Australian Army which just ends up giving people directions when they aimlessly wander about onto defence land and have become lost out in the middle of nowhere where there's no signs. It's great to camp out in the desert during spring and autumn but go there in winter and freeze or summer and roast. Besides the local Kiwis have tried invading the Gold Coast for decades and they like it there and they're really mean! |

Planes cannot be Swiss army knives. Airframes, military in particular, MUST be specific to their task. Weight is everything. In the history of aeronautics...The stillbirth stupidity of F35 is only rivaled in its misguided inception by Hitler's brilliant demand of the Luftwaffe in WWII. See Hitler loved dive bombers, like kids love tractors. He would stare at them, love up on their pilots (Rudel) and thought they were the bees knees. He venerated the Stuka, despite the fact it was perhaps the worst and most limited plane in service. Outdated, outgunned, near defenseless...it still seemed really really cool to people that watched newsclips. I can picture Hitler making that Stuka sound while he and Goring played in the bathtub....so hitler, the strategist that he was, made a rule. All Luftwaffe bombers MUST be dive bombers. Single engine, two engine, four engine didn't matter. They MuST be able to dive bomb because...the Stuka 87 was soooo freaking cool! This ridiculous notion, handcuffed every bomber from that point on. The four engine bombers in development and testing Do 19 and Ju 89 were scrapped, (impossible too heavy and large to dive bomb, kesselrings death didn't help either) and all tactical bombers were strapped with a ball and chain. Most pilots knew that would t be dive bombing in their heinkel 177's but it was a requirement so rigidity was an issue and the necessary strengthening of the frame of such a large two engine bomber severely undercut it's operational ability. German bombers often had to use rocket assisted take off. An awkward solution that cries out to the impractical demands placed upon it, by people who didn't quite understand the "bottom line" of warplanes. Fast forward to another airframe fucked from the word go. Except this time it's far worse, the cheaper, simpler solution to the pricey F22 has become something it was never intended to be...everything for everyone. Just like Americas butt-fucked education system the F35 has become a lowest common denominator, no child left behind type of clusterfuck. It's not even a Jack of all trades as it does almost nothing well and less than 2/3 of what it was intended to do. Vertical takeoff and landing? Not really. And the thrust necessary spalls concrete and ruins decks and runways. Agile? Hell no. CAS capable? Hardly, with the minimal payload. Dogfighting? Hope not. Reliable? a hahahaha. Fast? Nope. Stealth? Keeps getting downgraded in capability, even the Stealth being compromised by the universal Airframe approach... but seriously folks. Stealth is like Siri. So much more awesome to hear about than to have to, you know, rely upon. Why aren't the Russians all worried about stealth...they make better rockets than us? They can get to space and stuff. Are they so dumb they can't even Stealth bro??? Or perhaps they see it for what it is a marketing gimmick and little more. A multi-trillion dollar "Murica, fuck yeah" that makes us feel safe and secure with so few real world results that the only ones satisfied are the ones that keep buying and selling "Stealth" technology. At least it's cheaper riiigh.....oh fuck. It's even more expensive than the F22. Well goddam. So at this point I'd be actually excited if it came with a 1 year free Sirius/Xm subscription. That would make sense. At least Siri, Sirius and F35 could have nice talks about the good old days when people actually believed that one day, they would all be game changers. |

It has one of the most advanced IRST ever put on an aircraft (Detection range of over 400km). It has one of the most advanced radars ever put on an aircraft. Both the IRST and the radar can be used for ground or air attack mode. Supposedly these systems are to work with its early warning system and weapon system. This is why a lot of early purchasers of the aircraft are not flaking out from the deal. Sure these systems could and will be put on other fighters, but that will take time. This is the age of the drones. And most likely the F-35 is going to get some very advanced air to air and air to ground weapons that we haven't even heard about yet. This isn't the Vietnam age where missile technology wasn't advanced enough to rely on this tech, because now we can rely on it. |
