I haven't heard this song in a while now.

Don't know the name ?

Here some lyric's...

Look out mama there's a boat and it's comin' up the river (or something like that)

It's got a man on the side and they don't look like there here to deliver the mail.

Need to know the name of this song.

Any Neil fans here ?

Re: Need help with Neil Young song....
Rumor has it he wrote the song for Lynyrd Skynyrd but they didn't want it so Neil did it, and perfectly too I might add.

Young recorded a solo acoustic version of "Powderfinger" in September 1975 (never officially released), and later sent the tape to his friend Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd who were to use the song on their next album.[9][4] However, Van Zant died in a plane crash in October 1977, and Lynyrd Skynyrd never recorded the song.[9][4] The song was officially released as an electric version with the band Crazy Horse on Young's 1979 album Rust Never Sleeps.
