The devil does not exist as an individual entity opposed to God and on an equal footing with him
When people talk about the devil, they do not know exactly to what cosmic or psychic reality this word corresponds. The devil does not exist as an individual entity opposed to God and on an equal footing with him. Those people who claim that the devil appeared to them have only imagined it. Spirits of light exist and so do spirits of darkness, and it is this group of evil spirits that we call the devil. The devil does not exist as an entity separate from and opposed to God, but as a collective force that is nourished and reinforced by people's negative thoughts, feelings and actions.

And we can also say that the devil is part of man himself, of his lower self. How was it formed? During his reincarnations man has continuously fed his lower self with his weaknesses and vices, thus blocking the path to heaven. However there exists also in man a luminous entity, his higher self that has been formed with his thoughts, feelings and actions inspired by kindness, generosity, love and sacrifice. So, if people tried hard to restore order to their inner life, the devil would disappear.

Oh the Devil is real alright.
I've seen him before, both in his flesh and spirit form.
His spirit makes noises at me every morning I smoke cigarettes in my backyard.
Herb is the healing of the nations.

"So many theologians have distorted the image of the Creator and Master of the universe by making the devil into God's implacable enemy! An entity that is so well able to stand up to God has to be as powerful as he is, if not more powerful. You will say they never thought such a thing... But they did, and the proof is that, in Christendom, throughout the Middle Ages and well beyond, men and women who displayed gifts that were a little exceptional were accused of having received these gifts from the devil, of having made a pact with him. And, unfortunately, the Church itself contributed to the spreading of this belief.

Yes, if the devil has held such an important position among Christians, it is the Church itself that is responsible. If anyone prophesied, healed the sick or received messages from heaven - oh no, it wasn't heaven inspiring them but the devil. So, we should not be surprised if some people really did want to make a pact with him. Why, they asked themselves, should we go and serve a powerless God, since all the knowledge and gifts come from his opponent, the devil? Their thinking was right, in a way. So, that is the kind of nonsense religion can lead to when it does not possess true initiatic knowledge concerning good and evil."

"Why are human beings capable of the best and the worst? Because the nature of their consciousness places them between the lower and higher worlds. If they are not vigilant, if their consciousness is not awakened, dark forces begin to gain the upper hand. And conversely, when they link themselves to the forces of the higher world, they become a channel for powerful, beneficial currents.

Knowing this, each human being must understand how important their role in the universe is, for it depends on them whether the doors to heaven are opened or the doors to hell. Yes, since humans are at the boundary of the two worlds, it depends upon them, upon their attitude, whether it is good or evil that manifests on earth. In the same way that the sun is the doorway to divine forces in the solar system, human beings are the doorways to solar forces on earth. They therefore have an immense role to play in the universe."

Re: The devil does not exist as an individual entity opposed to God and on an equal footing with him
Evil is limited, Good is limitless

The problem of the personality and the individuality is one that lasts all our life... not only this lifetime but all our earthly incarnations. We often believe we are being inspired from above when it is really only the personality trying to lure us into trouble. The individuality does its best to warn us of the consequences of listening to the personality, the inevitable consequences, but we prefer not to hear. That is the reason we should learn to observe ourselves all the time, ceaselessly inspecting each idea, each desire and impulse that occurs to us in order to determine their nature and the nature of the consequences entailed. Unfortunately most people prefer to let themselves go along with the personality instead of avoiding its advice, with the result that sooner or later they suffer, sooner or later they are faced with remorse and disillusionment. If you could see into people's hearts and hear their confessions, as I do, you would be appalled. I often am. The things I hear make me realize how ignorant most human beings are concerning their two natures and the respective manifestations of each.

A man thinks for instance, that he is the one to benefit when he satisfies his lower desires, but it is not so. It is other entities, whichever ones he has chosen to work for who benefit, but he does not see this until later, too late, when he has lost all his joy, his strength, his inspiration. The time comes when he realizes that he has spent his whole life working not for himself but for the personality and its friends, myriad invisible entities that surroung him without his knowing it, feeding on him as he gratifies their wishes. Then also comes the realization that he has left the immortal part of his being, his higher Self, to starve to death. Many entities feast on humans, too many to describe here. We have inherited them along with other things from the past and we drag them around with us as generations have done before us. If we could only see these entities, we would stop letting them take advantage of us and start working for beneficient creatures, the ones who would, on the contrary, increase our wealth and power, our real heritage.

Anyone who learns to observe himself discovers that after giving in to his desires, he feels robbed of all strength, lucidity, peace of mind... proving that others, not we, are the ones to benefit from our lower actions. If we were clairvoyant we would see millions and millions of entities who use us as they will, robbing us of our energy. I met a writer once who had an exaggerated idea of his importance as a result of having had a novel published, and I touched on this question of man and his two natures, divine and animal. When he heard me say that creatures in the invisible world treat humans the way humans have always treated animals, he became highly indigant; “What nonsense!” he cried, “I don't beleive a word of it”. I stared at him thinking that for a writer of note he was not terribly perspicacious, for what I had said was true. Men consider it perfectly normal to make slaves of animals, to skin them and sell their furs, kill them and sell their meat, without asking the animal's opinion! If they did, animals would have a lot to say on the subject of human cruelty and injustice. Is it then so incredible for other creatures to treat us the same way? Is it not logical? We are thrown a scrap to eat, we are used to labour in the fields, and in the end we are cut up into ham and sausages for supper! If we could see into the invisible world we would realize that all the nations, peoples and tribes of the world's history are represented, some of whom have little or no regard for humans and use them as we use animals... they drive them too hard, they sell them and skin them and kill them and devour them. This will one day be a recognized fact... in the meanwhile you have the privilege of being the first to know.

Now do you see how important it is to observe yourself, to analyze your thoughts, desires, hopes and plans for the future, inspecting them as a jeweller sorts out the gems tha are flawless from those of no value? When it comes to things like food, clothing, objets d'art, fruit or plants or flowers, men know a great deal about the different degrees of quality, and they admire qualities in people and things which are superior, they make a point of distinguishing between superior and inferior. It is not that some people prefer poverty to wealth, ugly women to pretty ones, rags to finery, no, what I am saying is that the Initiates base their knowledge on observation and they all agree that superior degrees, higher worlds exist, and that there is no limit to good, to excellence, we can always go higher. You cannot say about someone's intelligence, “Ah, he has reached the height of intelligence, he is wisest”, for there is no limit to wisdom or beauty, or goodness, or love. They are limitless and can be increased, augmented and perfected all the way to Infinity.

What about the opposite, things such as illness, misery, ugliness? Are inferior things also limitless and capable of expanding all the way to Infinity? No, there is a limit to evil, proven in physics by the fact that heat rises from 0 degrees celsius, to infinity, whereas cold cannot go lower than 273 degrees celsius below. The frozen particles block each other and pile up; when movement stops, the limit has been reached. Heat does the contrary, it dilates and expands the body, stirs the particles into movement and pushes back the limits of space. Space is infinite, it cannot be limited. We beleive ourselves limited because we have never tried to go beyond our own experience, we think we are limited in space but we are wrong: above there is no limit.

That is what led me to the conclusion that evil is limited in both time and space. God did not intend evil to endure. He did not endow it with lasting power as He did good: the power of good is unlimited. That is the difference between good and evil, the only real difference. People beleive them to be equally strong but they are not. The forces of Hell are not equal to the forces of Heaven. Therefore, in electing to go toward the positive pole, you enter into the realm of unlimited time and space, Infinity and Eternity, God Himself.

GOD

There is One who manifests Himself as Love, as Wisdom, and as Truth.

There is One!

And all of Living Nature speaks of this One, of this Great One.

They call Him God, Lord, Father.

It is He who fills everything, all of creation, all worlds, all solar systems, and nevertheless, He is still unrevealed. He cannot reveal Himself completely, even in all eternity. It does not contain all the forms by which He might reveal Himself.

Of Himself, the Absolute, the Unattainable, has no form. He is "nothing" but this "nothing" contains everything within itself.

He limits Himself without becoming limited. He diminishes Himself without being diminished.

He creates and is never exhausted. He reveals Himself in everything but He Himself is not in that which is revealed.

He sustains everything - from within and from without - but He Himself participates in nothing.

We compare Him with Light, Reason - the Logos. But He Himself is neither Light nor Reason.

Light and Reason - these are His manifestations.

God is not present in the world in a material way.

Indeed, when an artist paints a picture, is he in the picture? When a sculptor carves a statue, is he in the statue? The Great Unknown reveals Himself as Light without shadows, as Life without interruption, as Love without change, as Knowledge without errors, Freedom without limitations.

And when we say that God is Love, we understand that Love is one manifestation of God. Therefore, wherever there is Love, wherever there is goodness, which is the fruit of love, there God is revealed.

When we speak of God as Love, we have in mind that Being from whom all life in the universe proceeds and who unites all living souls in one whole without being changed Himself.

There is only one Being in the world who is absolutely good in the true and full meaning of the word and that is God. He is always kind. In His benevolence, God has absolutely no desire to do evil to anyone. If He passes by even the smallest insect, He smiles at it and gives it all the best conditions for life and development.

God judges no one. He restrains no one, He limits no one.

God is most beautiful in that He remembers only the good we have done. The evil He does not remember.

God gives perfect freedom to all beings. Never has He told any being in the universe, no matter how small: "Do this!" or "Serve Me!" He points out the way, but leaves each being free to make his own choice - to do as he thinks best.

Indeed, what does it profit God if we reverence Him and serve Him? Can we give Him knowledge? - No, He knows everything. Can we give Him power? - No, He is all powerful. Everything might pass away, everything might fall apart. He remains unshaken.

The only way in which we can appeal to God is through our helplessness, our misery. When He looks upon us, so small, so miserable, so ignorant, in His greatness there is born a desire to reach out to us and tell us: "Rise up now!"
God's desire is to set us free, to purify us, to enlighten our minds, to ennoble our hearts, to bring into our souls that light by which we come to know that He is Love.

In the heart of God there is something great.

It is He who elevates whole nations as well as separate individuals. All good things come from Him - knowledge, wisdom, truth, freedom. He has elevated all great men. They represent the inspiration of the divine spirit. It is God who wishes to introduce Love, Wisdom, and Truth into the world through these men.
In God's Love, Wisdom and Truth the totality of life throughout eternity is included, as well as the blessing of all souls. Whenever Love, Wisdom and Truth are manifested, the divine Spirit is present among men, and life then is manifested in its real essence.

Man must know that there is only one God and one Love, one Wisdom and one Knowledge, one Truth and one Freedom, one Righteousness and one absolute criterion, one Virtue and one source of good for all.

Except for this criterion there is no other measure of the great reality, and the truly real is only that which belongs to the One, the living God.

However, many people ask: "Does God exist, and if He exists - where is He?"
The entire universe represents the "city of God" where God abides. His consciousness, His mind, is so great that it embraces even the smallest beings and governs their lives.

All angels and all great beings who lived millions of years before us on earth, understand what God is. They stand with holy awe before that great Being from whose heart flows the Love that advances and supports the whole cosmos.

And if you ask them where God is and what He is, they will reply in your own language: "No being is nearer to you than God. No being has a more awakened mind, a more responsive heart, a mightier will. For Him, nothing is impossible. No being is nobler, holier, purer, wiser, mightier, more powerful than God. He is everywhere. He is in heaven - in all the suns, and on earth, behind everything: behind air and water, behind stones and plants, behind animals and man. There is nothing in the world which God does not sustain."

Everything within us and outside us, everything that surrounds us is the background behind which God is hidden as a great artist. He is hidden well because He wants to leave us free.

And because God is so well hidden, men unceasingly search for Him on the surface, and wish to reach Him by external means, to prove His existence.
But God is not a reality that can be proven.

The attempt to prove the existence of God is equivalent to affirming that there is no God. Every proof of the existence of God is a mechanical process.

When a man requires evidence for the existence of God, that shows that he has cut off in his consciousness his connection with Him.

Every Judeo-Christian knows he's REAL! He's got big horns,a huge shlong because he just loves sex, bright red skin, a tail with a point on the end...not sure what that's for, and I don't want to know! He's always smiling and laughing when he does mean things because that's what he like to do most! I guess he got that way because he just got tired of having a parent/child relationship with God and thought he'd be a grownup. He should've known better! God doesn't want ANYBODY to grow up!

Keep a grovelin' and shovelin'
And kissing that Ass!
God'll give you all you need,
All ya gotta do is ask!

Re: The devil does not exist as an individual entity opposed to God and on an equal footing with him
The relationship between good and evil is identical to that which exists between spirit and matter. Just as the spirit needs matter in order to express itself, so good needs evil, otherwise it will fall asleep; there is nothing to stimulate it. Evil provokes good, and then good is projected onto the substance of evil as though onto a screen. It’s thanks to evil that good is what it is; without evil we would have no knowledge of good. If humans wish to destroy evil, good will also be destroyed. In some cases, evil can even be said to be the root of good. Of course, that doesn’t mean we should favour evil; it doesn’t need any favours, it is strong enough as it is. We only need to know it is unavoidable and learn to use it. You cannot evolve, you cannot become a higher being, if you do not encounter evil in the form of obstacles and ordeals. So, be happy that you will always be stimulated, you will always be inspired and full of life, because evil will always be there: there will always be things to annoy you, there will always be flies, wasps, snakes and wicked people, and it is up to you to use them to the good.
